outer banks trip

went to outer banks last april. awesome time. fishing was slow
i was hopping to get some reds and sea trout but water was only 50 degrees. i wish i brought my freshwater gear.
found a small pond near the house we were staying at. caught a few nice bass nothing huge. luckily it was warm so i could wade. had only light tackle saltwater. the heddon spooks were the hot lure and a gold redfish chatter bait.
caught a few bass biggest 2.5lbs. missed a huge bass that smoked a red head zara spook.. took me into some trees. the tree was next to me. i was thinking of going swiming for it but i dont know what kinds of turtles and snakes live here.
saw a huge gar come up after my spook. never had the fish, as it missed the bait.
i drove 20 miles to a fish peir a few times. the big skates were bitting good, but i wanted a new fish. a few days later i finaly caught some puffer fish.
these fish were really cool. they made a weird noise when you caught them. you had to rub their belly to blow em up. |

so this past season wasnt my best. did quite bad.
im really looking forward to 2015. i get to fish with the new friends i met in 2014. im going to start chasing the true giants. ill be fishing more and new ponds this year. im going after pike,walleyes,muskie,big lakers, 6lbs smallies and 10lbs largemouths.
went out after yesterday. pond has skim ice but there was some open water pockets. had a bunch of hits, missed a few fish, spit hook. but ended the year with 3 1 lbsers.
hair jigs, that i made and plastics on jig heads were the hot lures. | - |

fished all day last saturday. my buddy took me to his secret spot.
beautiful day but fishin was slow for me. they just wouldnt bite.
i caught a nice bass and 2 jumbo perch, i had a couple of hits. missed a few good fish on the jig.
my buddy had 10 fish. few bass a pickerel a crappie and a few big perch,
we caught fish 9-20 feet deep. texas rigged worms and jerbaits fished slow

finaly caught a damn bass.
last bass over a pound was in october, horrible fishing for me this year. cant catch a damn thing, bites arent happening either. the lack of fish isnt from the lack of trying, its just that the fish this year stupid and are a pain in the ass for not biting my damn hooks! STUPID FISH.BITE THE DAMN HOOK
i went to a favorite pond of mine last sunday. nice day out. shiners, jigs jerkbaits plastics and a swimbait was my weapons of choice. fished shallow weeds and tree. fished every log. humps. fished points. fished shallow and deep fish the middle fished the shoreline. fished the drop offs. not even a nibble. first time i iced fished this place was last year, i killed it, lots of bass and panfish, biggest was 4.13lbser
sun was going down decided to hit another pond with pickerel and bass. ive caught bass on jerkbaits here in february. used jigs jerkbaits plastics and shiners. not even a nibble.
out of fustration. i hit a super tiny pond. now i dont fish here often. but i figured ill get the bait in front of the fish. soon i walked up to it, i spooked bass. good sign. tossed shiner out, nothing. waited still nothing. reeled in and cast out to a new area. shiner flys off. SPLASH a good bass eats the damn shiner. AHHHHHHH
rebait cast out to the same area. nothing wait and wait. bobber goes down. DAMN missed the fish cuz of the slack line line. rebait again. wait and wait. slowly move the bait closer to shore. bobber goes down. YESSSSS!!!!!! I GOT ONE!!! finaly first fish ive hooked in over 2 months. land a nice 2.15 largemouth.
so pumped, caught another 1lbser in the same pond.

i had a slump going for the entire season! not catching a 5+lbser yet this year! last year i killed and this year im sucking! first to worst! like the sox
so i decided to hit a pond ive never been to! ive been wanting to fish it for years! never found the access!
so i had to park on a side street and drag the kayak to a little hole in the trees!! very hard limited access! AWESOME!!!!!!!!
i had a chater bait on and weedless rig worm! the pond is SUPER SHALLOW!!!!! but not a ton of weeds and nice hard bottom with stained water!!!
got a couple small bass on shoreline trees! like really small bass!
i paddle out towards the middle! water got to 6 feet deep! i picked off a couple 1-1.5 lbsers!
i make a cast out to the stump in the middle! BAM. nice chunky 1.5-2lbsber! take a pic cuz i thought this might be the biggest of the day!
take another cast to the same stump! BAM!!!! HUGE BASS!!!!!!!!! fought it! screaming like a little kid!! SO PUMPED!!!!!
netted it! 5.14lbser!!!! SWEET!!!
i send the picture to my buddy! he wants to come! so he joins me in his yak!
first cast on the frog BAM!!! 3.14lbser! one of the bigest bass hes ever caught!!!
we picked off more small bass up to 1lbs! they were loving the wacky rigs! fished the entire pond!

my buddy and I wanted to do some striperfishing and bottom fishing on my boat!
battery is dead! so we decided to try some bullhead fishing. the sea worms dont last long in the fridge! we said screw it! dont want to waste em! if cats eat chicken and hotdogs why wouldnt they eat a sea worm
ive never really go for bullheads or catfish! but the spot we tried has some! ive caught some baby cats in a net in the brook on the other side of the street!
spot 1 was a bust! my buddy had some hits on a bobber! probably sunnies! i was fishing the bottom! did see some big splashes way out across the pond!
so we decided to hit a local spot! we fished here through the ice and CRUSHED IT!!!!!!
first cast we both hook up! he lands a nice big crappie on a sea worm and bobber! i miss my fish! i was using a 5 inch perch swimbait! this is a killer bait weighs 3/4 ounce and SWIMS AMAZING!!
CHECK EM OUT AT DADDYMAC LURES!!! TELL EM I SENT YA!

leave work on friday get to my buddies house by midnight.
stay up till 1 wake up at 430 get to the spot by 530. my bait died! 2 dozen shiners and 1 pondies DEAD!!!! my buddy caught 2 small shiners in his trap!
get to the spot zero cars! i was surprised! beautiful morning! saw a few fish rising! i toss out a green/chrome 1/4 kastmaster going for salmon and browns! i cast out out then started talking to my buddy! not paying attention a laker whacked it!
Fight the fish get it on shore! go down to grab it! it spits the hook and swims away! quick release!
we leave hit a different spot! check out one of my favorites! 30 friggin cars lined up! we said screw it! met up with a couple buddies at a new spot!
awesome hole! no cars at the gate! nice point with a flat and a deep hole that goes far into the cove.
pounded that spot for a few hours! my buddie jeff picks off a small laker on the drop of!
my buddy hugo! wakes up from a nap! first cast BAM nice 4lbs laker!! hit sunset at my favorite spot for about an hour! hugo lands a nice laker on a live target bait ball jerk bait! i had a good follow on my last cast with a live target smelt
DAY2. wake up at 530 hit my favorited spot! only 10 cars!
first cast BAM nice laker. 2.13 lbser! hit a perch 3/4 kastmaster right at the drop off.
no more on metals for a while! we picked up big dead shiners left by other guys! floated them off bottom!
Hugo catches 2 4lbsers on bait! big dead shiners were the ticket! he also lands a nice fat pickerel on a jerkbait! very surprised in this spot!
he had a bunch of hits on bait! but his hooks were to small.
i had a drag peeler a nice 3.13lbser on a floated shiner! also landed another on bait!
i caught another on metals later in the day!
4 lakers and a quick release laker!

Drove all around Plymouth and carver! But the spots we stoped at were way to windy for a canoe!
So we said screw it and hit an old favorite spot of mine! Been fishing here for 21 years as this was the first spot I've ever fished!
1 hit 1 fish day for me! Tied on my favorite jig combo!
And pitched to one of my favorite trees!
Hit all sides of hit! Casted to the right side! Way back where the tree meets the shoreline brush!
Let the jig fall slowly! Let it sit for a little! Twitched it once! BAM!!!! Fish on!
4.10lbser!
Deaf fishermen had a couple hits on Texas rigged flukes! But didn't hook up! He had the hits in the same cove where I caught my bass |

Hit a few ponds! First pond! I tossed jerkbaits and tried out my new lures I made! No fish!
Drove to one of my favs to see if it was open!
The deep part was open a little bit! Enough to cast!
Tossed out my favorite jig combo to shore logs!
Hooked up to a good fish but threw the hook!
Walked along the shore pitching to logs!
Caught 2 bass on back to back cast!
First open water bass of 2014. 1.4 oz. caught another smaller on! Couple more hits on the jig but nothing solid!
Tied an xrap jerkbait! Caught a small bass!
Decided to try my new swimbait.
First cast! Slowrolled it deep close to bottom!
Bam bass nailed it!

Met at one of muskies spots! Lines in. By 530! Fished till 9!
Couple hits! No fish!
Aem and I fished a new spot in the basin!
We saw some fish rising but we didn't want to crowd the guys there already! And there wasn't a lot of fish able shoreline!
Drove to the other side of that spot! Fished till 1030! No fish no hits!
Aem went home! I tried for salmon! Saw a couple!
2 guys left with 3 fish! On night crawlers!
I walked past the 290 bridge! Found a hungry salmon under a log!
It hit my worm 5 times before moving out! Wahooooo!!!! My first salmon to bite my lures and bait!!!!!! Saw a couple under this log!
I packed up and went for lakers!
Fished the same spot as last week! I didn't feeling bring shiners so I just brought my metals!
Some guys were there since 11! They only got one bow on bait!
I walked past them! 1st cast a laker!
Caught 8 lakers and bunch of hits!
Help them Land their first lakers!
They asked how am I fishing the metals!
I said bottom bounce! First cast for him! Bam! His first laker ever! I was pretty happy about that!
He lands another!

Muskie wimped out on us today!
Aem and couple other guys came! Hit on of Eric's spots!
Lines in by 6ish!
Eric and his buddy had some nice hits and runs on shiners
But mine never got touched!
I started tossing out spoons! Found the ticket to fish!
Casting out half way across the re! Letting the spoon sink to the bottom! Jiggin it was the way to go!
Caught 2 small lakers!b Took a cast jigged a little then let the spoon rest on bottom! Took a sip of my coke! Started reeling in! The fish hit the spoon when it was resting on bottom! Caught biggest of the day and my PB. Nice 2.13lbser!
Then the action died so I tried a diff spoon!
Hooked up a nice laker! Putting up a nice fight! Threw the hook 10 feet from shore!
Caught another small laker before we headed out!
I hit the river for some salmon action!
They were in there! Some guy pointed out 3 fish in a pool for me! I worked these fish for awhile! Got 2 follows!
Then I moved up stream! Couple guys fishing a pool!
I saw a nice fish at the end of the pool! My bait literally hit and drifted over it!
Further up river I found a pool where they were stacked moving from deep to shallow water! Wouldn't touch a thing!
Hit them with my bait!
tried flies jigs and night crawlers!
Then tried the spot we hit in the AM! Lost another laker on a spoon! No other fish!
My best day at the chu! And PB laker!
4 lakers some nice hits and a creek chub caught in the river!
Pretty awesome day!

Met Muskie at B&A bait at 5! Got to the spot and Aem was waiting for us in the Parkin lot! Lines in by 530ish! Fished till 9
Bunch of trips hits and Eric had a good run! But no fish!
That's when I tried for salmon!
Found a dirt spot to park! Walked through the woods! Hiked down to the mouth! No signs of life!
Talked to a couple guys they said there's a bunch of cars at the bridge!
Hiked from that bridge to the 290 bridge bush waking my way! Saw some good salmon!
At one point they were swimming at my feet!
But couldn't get them to bite! Fished for salmon from 930 to 330! Had one follow on a small green rooster tail
One guy caught a pin for salmon! A 4.5 lbser!
I saw one guy loose a monster! He said a 6lber!!!!
Talking to one guy on the river! He said bottom bounce a spoon for lakers! He gave me a spot to try with a nice ledge!
He's the 3rd person that told me to fish here!
Packed up! Short walk!
Bait the hook! Tossed out my shiners! Nothing!
Casting my spoon out a friggin mile! Gota love that braid!!!!!!!
Bouncing it along! Few cast nothing!
Took a cast bounced it a couple times! Let it lay on the bottom! Took some pics of the beautiful lake!
Started reeling in! Thought I hooked a log or a clump of weeds! Then it started head shaking!
I was like I got a fish! It's a friggin laker!! Wahooooo!!!!!!!
Only one fish! Couple of hits saw some biggons!
Even tho it's a baby laker! A 1.8 lbsers
But who cares! I CAUGHT MY FIRST LAKER!!!!!!!!!

2 lakers were caught on spoons by some guys fishing next to us!
I refused to leave with out a fish today! I took me a log time!
I hit a spot I had fished before! It was brutal out there! It was cold and windy! Saw one guy land. A 3 lbs smallie!! He had 2 lakers on a stringer!
I was tried cold and hungry! Hit a quick mart for some coffee and a sandwich! The. Drove around looking for new spot!
Fished by some railroad tracks! No fish here! I was ready to give up! And it was about 330! Saw some guy walking back.asked him how he did! Nothing! Slow day! He was going for salmon!
He showed me a spot! And said they were jumping in that area! I said my last spot! Drove over to it!
Used small shiners and spoons!
Caught 5 pickerels, 4 largemouth and 1 perch!
Biggest was a 1.14lbs largemouth!
Every time I hooked into something I thought I had a salmon! But it was always a damn pickerel!
Hooked into 2 fish on spoons! Thinking/hoping they were salmon but they were bass and pickerel!

I was in a slump for a while! with small bass or no bass!
6.6lbser caught on a black and blue chatterbait!
I took a cast over to a tree! It wacked it! Missed the fish cuz of the tree!
Took another cast to the same spot!
Nailed it again!
Peeling line with a fully tighten drag!
Got it to the log and I can getting out!
I had to take my work shoes off and roll up my work pants! Had to get the fish!!!!
Couldn't get the fish over this branch! If had mono I'd most likely have lost it!!!

last night was my buddies last nighrt of striper fishin of the year. he wanted to catch his first keeper of the year. unfortunatly that did not happen. he had a chance but he blew it.
we fished many spots from 7pm-2am.
first spot nice rock pile in the middle of a sandy coast line. we started deep and moved closer as the tide came in. we fished chunk macks lure and eels. we tried moving closer but the lights wont turn on. OMG we are so screwed. luckly they turned on after i fiddled with some wires.
the last spot we fished at this pile was a big rock close to shore. my budd says hes done good here this season. we fished for an hour at this spot.the rod almost flies out of his hands. he wasnt paying attention. he hooks into a good fish peeling off line, he sets the hook missed it.
fish comes back missed again. no fish at this spot.
we moved off shore bout a mile and a half fished deep rocks. i never tried 3 way eels before. they slam monster this way down south in Montauck,Block island, and Connecticut. they routinley catch 40+lbsers on this.
we set our drift i was using a 12 ounce sinker. but the current was so strong i couldnt hold bottom.
we head to the next spot. one of my favs. a 50lbser was caught here off the beach last october. no fish so we trolled to the next spot no hits.
the next 2 spots were dead, nothing. we saw my bro and a buddy walkin back from the bar so we picked em up. trolled and drank some beers.
we dropped anchor at a random spot near a flooded marsh. i was relaxin drinkin a beer sitting on the bow. my rod almost flies off the boat. i didnt know what happend i thought some one was screwing with me and hit my rod.
i left my barely alive eel dangiling in the water. so my rod almost flies off the boat agian. i caught a nice schoolie.
hour passes and my buddy catches another schoolie. both fish were caught on eels dangling off the boat. we look at the clock 2am crap time to go in.

i went to lake winni this week. had high hopes. but fishing was tough, for me at least.
we rented a house far up in moultonborough bay, past lees mill boat ramp.
i fished almost this entire area.
first day i got a largemouth off the dock on a pan fish grub. 1lbser. the next day got a smallie 1 lbser on a night crawler.
monday did some fishing didnt get much. only couple sunnies
tuesday it rained. got out a dusk couple hours after the storm. fish were jumping in a cove.
first cast missed a good fish on a zara spook. fished until dark. got a 2lbser. smacked the lure right at the boat as i was pulling the lure out of the water.
line snapped in the boat called it a night.
went out mid day. bite was tought. nothing in the pads nor rocks close to shore. tried away from shore nothing . i didnt bring many lures on this day. my only crank bait was diving 7-12 feet. i was fishing over supsended weeds away from shore. i tied on a shaky head. nothing.
i moved through a narrow shallow channel. took a cast near a water trampoline. nothing. another cast. before my shakey head hit bottom. hooked a nice bass.
the larry spit the hook near the boat.
pissed off i moved around to a tree nothing.
saw some rocks away from shore. nothing.
tied on a 4" black tube red fleck with chartreuse tail, another nice hit away from shore on submerged weeds. i was keeping it above the weeds.
went back for dinner. went back out at dusk. tied on a popper, only bites were from sunnies and misquitos.
next day went out at midday. fished a different cove. nothing along shore. had a hit on miss piggy away from shore over submerged weeds. missed it. tried deep and along shore. fished spinner baits, jerk baits, drop shot, tubes shakey heads, jigs. nothing
next morning saw my buddy out on a kayak. he caught a couple nice bass and some big pickerels.
i head out fished the shoreline, hit every shaded spot. lost a small pickerel at the boatm, near some pads in a tiny cove on a wacky rig senko.
i paddled along. watch a guy catch a 2lbs smallie off his dock on a popper.
so i tied one on. no hits. kept moving along. fishing docks rock and trees.
took a cast at boat house slowly twitched the popper. small larry hits it. land it.
then caught a sunnie under a tree on the popper, the lure was half its size.
switched up to miss piggy. i call it miss piggy cuz its my hawg slayer.
cast near some rocks. another tiny larry. moved along no hits. fished a marina. nothing,very shallow. kept going fished a big tree near a dock and in deep water
i said this is my cup of tea. no fish on miss piggy. by this time in the morning. the sun was pretty high and there wasnt much shade. hit a few more docks. nothing tried fishing deep nothing . only shaded spot left in the area. i missed another pickerel. it was a good size one
last mornning. i saw my buddy out on the kayak. i hop in the othe one. he slammed them this morning.
fishing a wacky rig senko at this big rock in deep water. he caught 4 nice bass off this rock. 2lbs smallie ,3lbs larry, couple smaller bass. he also caught a pickerel and 2 more bass at a different rock earlier in the morning
i ended the trip with a tiny bass on the same lure he was using. it was about 10 inches.
but he kept slaying them next to me
overall. i was a little dissapointed with the fishing. great time water skiing,jet skiing and drinking.

We left dock a 430. Got back around 830.
Only 4 hour trip but it was epic
Fishin with my uncles,father and bothers
6 guy including my self. Plus the captain of the charter
We went to monomoy rips. Using squid lures.
The captain kept saying "the circus is in town.
The googans or weekend warriors were out and about!
We got to the spot waited 5 minutes for the tide to move! Bam it busted wide open.
Birds and bass busting everywhere.
Immediately fish on. No stop actions.
Bass and squid jumping clean out of the water.
All the other non charter boats wernt catching fish. So they kept following us.
Every spot we went to we caught fish!!!!
By far one of the best days in my 20 years of fishing.
I will deff be going back out with him again. Maybe again this summer
You got to go fishing with this guy. He knows what he's doing.
20+ years fishing the waters of Nantucket sound!

Got there around 5. Stuck it out till 9.
No body was catching fish. So I grab bass rod. Walked around to the cove.
10lbs test power pro. With a white wacky rig senko.
I got to the end of the cove and saw 3 big bass swimming.
2 left . The bigger one hung around.
I stared at my lure 3 times. Came right up to it. And "nosed" it.
It swam over it a few times. And I even bumped it with my lure. No hit. Fustrated. I walked back to the group.
They were packing up. So me and deaffishermen packed up. And walked to the point.
I grab my shiner rod ad went back to the last known location of the bass. I saw it along the shore.
I pitched my shiner to it. Wham! Missed the. Fish.
He turned a round and nailed hit! Great fight!
Landed a 4.13lbs largemouth!!!!!!!! |

Me and my buddy took the aluminum boat down to long pond
i told him little long pond is better for bass
Launch the boat. First spot was a log in a shaded area. Just off the first point!
I toss out a pumpkinseed tube jig.
Caught a nice bass. Couple more cast in the area nothing. No hits. Hit the boat house. Big blow down tree. Nothing.
I kept fishin the tube jig. My buddy was tossing senkos and spinner baits.
We fished the shoreline. No hits.
We made a B line to the 2nd point. I switched up to an excalibur lipless crank. Also tossed out a shiner out deep.
I caught 2 perch on the shiners.
We drifted up the shoreline. No hits.
I yo-yo'ed the lipless had a hit at the boat!
Then we hit the wind blown cove. The other side of the first point.
Tied up a purple black fleck tube jig.
No hits.
My buddy had a nice hit on a trolled watermelon seed tube jig.
He missed hit.
We hit up the log where I caught my first bass.
I was using the purple tube.
Caught a monster gator picker.
Looked like a pike!
We pull the boat on the shore. My buddy wanted to charge the trolling motor battery with jumper cables. He chickened out.
I took a couple cast in the little river. Caught another small bass.
We packed up hit long pond.
I managed 2 perch on the shiners. My buddy had small smallmouth on a black senko. He missed it.
Only stayed in the first part of the pond.
We saw a couple of good bass swimming in the shallows. I tried tubes and a crank bait. Then switched to a jig and pig. The trailer was a yum craw.
Pitched to a tree. Missed the fish.
I wasn't prepared for jig fishing. I wasn't using my jigging rod!
We stated a little longer. No hits or fish Then we packed up hit one last spot closer to home.
I tossed out a Slugo. Immediately started getting hits. But kept missing them. Tried a Texas rigged tube. Caught some more hits. Kept missing them.
Then rigged up a weedless white senko caught another small pickerel.
Couple more hits.
Hooked up a wacky rigged white senko.
Caught another bass. It hit immediately.
Got alot of hits. But kept missing them.
I ha another pickerel come off at the boat.
I caught 9 fish my buddy caught 0

Fished a local honey hole in Marshfield.
The spot I fished is hard to get to!
First spot tried a new swim bait. It's a wake bait.
Couple cast no hits.
Took a long cast and "shore trolled" to my favorite spot.
Had to reel in to get around some brush.
So I reeled in. BAM!!!!! Hooked at nice solid 3.9 lbser on the surface!!!!!
Walked down the canal aka my favorite spot. No hits on the swim bait.
Tied on my favorite black blue jig.
No hits beginning of the canal.
Middle of the canal. Tossed to some rocks.
Nice 1.5 lbser.
Walked down to another set of rocks.
Caught a 4.8 lbser. |
