theanegadaboner This 16 pound Permit hit the typical Cow Wreck Beach Bar (Anegada), a number 6 hook baited with a chunk of hard-skinned conch, using 12 pound test line with a home-made wire leader, and for a little throwing weight; about a 3/4 inch socket tied on it's own line leader off of the wire leader. No swivel used. This rig was cast used the spinning rod, rigged with 12 pound test line. He hit it hard, only once, then up and down the beach he ran, seldom letting up. The rod tip stayed under bent strain until finally, we had him in the "surf". Splash! Also, had to work (tighten - then loosen) the drag several times to keep from stripping the reel of all of it's line, and after about 45 minutes or so, he was greeted like family at Cow Wreck Beach Bar/Grill. He also was very good eaten' the day!
