First Time At Houghton's

Went out on a cloudless day, about 70 degreeswith light wind to Houghton's Pond for the first time. Heard good things about it on this site and I was not disappointed. I was only out for about 2 - 2.5 hours fishing the woodsy side (as opposed to the beach side) and a Rooster Tail turned up a really healthy looking but a bit small largemouth. A few different pickerel followed the Rooster Tail too, they're all shallow at the moment and are ready to rumble if you're offering is convincing, I could imagine somebody with live bait would make a killing on the little guys.

Comments

  • I fish for trout often at Houghton's and usually catch my limit with ease. Lately I been skunked 2 or 3 times, I think the trout numbers are way down until they stock again. I did catch a nice catfish recently out of there.

  • When I fished the other night the guy next to me left with 7 trout. People have no respect for the limits they will take anything out of the pond no one watches sizes or creel.

  • I wouldn't be surprised, there were a lot of people there but there are a TON of spots to fish so it wasn't that crowded.

  • I'm surprised you didn't pick up a stockie, unless they are all fished out already. Wouldn't surprise me given the fishing pressure there.
