Review: I grew up fishing here since the 1960s. You are required to live in a town served by United Water who owns the property. They will, for a small fee issue a badge and a gate key. You are restricted to shore fishing. Largemouth bass from 3 to 5 pound are caught along the rip rap on almost any lure. They are the best tasting largemouth bass anywhere. I don;t know why. There are also crappies and white perch along with some monster carp that can easily break twenty pounds. There are also large trout that arrived from stcking the upper Hackensack river that feeds the lake. They are rarely caught but there have been some 3 - 4 pounders reported. Wildlife within the fence include red fox, deer, lots of water and garter snakes. Some of the water snakes are large and aggressive and are best avoided. The area is patrolled by a private police force referred to as water cops by locals. They are armed and will arrest trespassers. If you like to fish and have the required residence it is well worth the small fee to fish this rare suburban getaway. The best bass fishing along the points and coves between the to gates. Carp are caught anywhere on bait and patience.
