Worth Waking Up At 4am

Got an education on Carp Fishing this morning. Met Blackstone Carp around 4:30 or so hoping to spook up a couple Carp and shoot the breeze for couple hrs. No bites or fish, that's ok, they started showing them selves for the first time. As luck always has it, fish started jumping just about the time we need to go. RRRRRRRRRR
Thanks for all the great chat and tips!!!!

Blackstone:

Got a message last night from Muskie saying he'd be out this morning. Figured I'd tag along and see if the fish were moving yet. We've both fished this lake a lot, just at different spots and different times.

I knew it would only be a few hours so I tried to pack light, though to be fair that never happens. I still ended up with far more gear then I needed!

I took some boilies and chum in a bucket, my mat, chair, net and my rod bag.

I leave the house a bit after 4am, roll into the swim around 430 am. This red car pulls in behind me and the lot is still dark. They kill the lights and sit for a moment and I am thinking..I hope this is him, and not a repeat of my Flint pond outings. Anyone who frequents Flint pond knows what I am referring to ;).

Luckily i saw the crutches in the front seat and though, gotta be Muskie, the only guy heading out this morning in a cast...

So we do the meet and greet, then get down to it. I have to admit the man hops quite well with all his gear.

Over the next few hours we stood round, talking about this and that, old fish stories, encounters on the banks, why I have such a big rod..you know, the good stuff.

There wasn't much action till very near the end. I might be frustrated at a blank but to be honest seeing them come in is a good thing. Now we both know the fish are starting to move, which means the next few weeks could show some real promise. I look forward to getting out there again. Really glad i had a chance to meet up and get to know this guy a bit.

  • I hope it is soon..eager to get back on it now. Love that lake.

  • If you hang out too much at Flint, you will need those Big Rods and Net!! hahahaha

  • It will be very SOOOON!!!!

  • Yes it would. I got the biggest net and rods in town! ;)

  • Most trips are more about the company then the fish we land. When we go alone it is all about the solitude and being alone with nature and your thoughts its all good!Just to get away from it all especially in times like these helps us move on.

  • That net would land a person!!
