|Details:||Went back home to the Albany, NY area this past weekend for a wild weekend of brews, fishing, and rain. Finally made it out fishing Saturday afternoon, after lunch at a local brewery. We went to a good spot for smallmouth near a power plant on the Mohawk River, with the intention of staying late and trying to catch some carp later on. No luck with the bass, but we weren't really trying too hard. Once it started to get dark, we started a fire, dipped into the cooler, and set up the carp rods. After awhile, we had a bite, and I got one. About 8 pounds, not bad! My buddy got one a little bit later, which ended up being the biggest of the night 11 or 12 lbs. It was supposed to rain all night, so we set up a tarp tent. Finally the rain came in buckets, really gnarly. The tarp blew over, we pulled the rods in, and ended up sitting in chairs with the tarp sitting on our heads drinking beer until the rain stopped. We put the lines back in the water and my other buddy ended up catching one more carp, so we all ended up with one. The next morning we weren't feeling so hot, but decided to try our luck for some smallies again. Only had about an hour, but ended up with a decent one.
