I went to Wachusett Reservoir after work this morning (get out at 7am). I was only able to stay an hour, but I wanted to get out on the water anyway. The water was like glass as I walked down; no wind and the sun shining down. First cast with a Senko near a fallen tree and Boom, I'm on. It ran right towards the submerged tree and as much as I tried to stop it, it tangled me up and I eventually snapped the line.

No more action for the next 20 or so minutes; small nibble but that's it. I switched over to one of my last two remaining watermelon Senkos, both of which were fished heavily. I told myself I'd leave when both those Senkos were gone or when it was 8am, whichever came first. I caught a small largemouth about 5 minutes later. Had my Yama rigged up weedless, with a smaller hook. It was around 8 or 9 inches long, no real girth, just a little guy. Nonetheless, it was good to land a fish. A few bites and one lost Senko later, it was 7:50. I had one Senko left, and it was torn basically to shreds. I rigged it up wacky style, which I normally don't do. A couple casts later and I'm on again! Feels like a normal bass but when it gets closer I start to see yellow. IT's a perch, and a big one at that! Landed it cleanly; was about 10-11 inches long with some girth. One of the bigger perch I have caught and the first of this year. A nice surprise and a great ending to my short trip! Probably will be going back at 530 this evening after I get some sleep and will DEFINITELY will be going back again after I get out of work tomorrow morning at 7. Thinking about shiners. We'll see how I do...
