Brown trout tend to like minnows or artificials that immitate a minnow. Crankbaits are excellent for larger browns in Virginia. Fly fishermen may want to try their streamers.

Great fish, Fun to catch and puts up a fight, very good on the dinner table as well, slow nymph drifting seems to work wonders on them.

Thompson Dam has them, WATCH OUT FOR THEM, there was one that got away from me back in '07 and he was a biggie...at least 20-25"....my boyfriend could lose his fist in the buggers mouth...fishing out on the little peninsula (that was once a road, 50 yrs ago) is the best place, but mainly on the inside part, out on the tip. if you can't get the trout, you'll definately reel in some LMB's, guaranteed!
