Comment: When trying to id the fish, i look at the body. The pike is dark with white spots, and the pick is yellow. Pike also have red fins most of the time. Many people say that spoons work well on pike, and i have thrown spoons a ton, and only have caught pike on inline spinners, and rapala's. Guess it may be a time of year thing, and i will keep trying considering all the money i spent on them.

Comment: Seems to be allot of confusion regarding the ID of northern pike and chain pickerel. Iíve made the mistake several time myself. I think the quickest way to differentiate between northern pike and chain pickerel, aside from the STRAIGHT bars of a northern pike vs. the CHAIN link pattern of a chain pickerel is the spotted fins on a northern pike and the vertical stripe across the eye on the chain pickerel.

Comment: Love cathing this fish on hard or soft water. On soft, the fight they put up going from one end of the boat to the other is the best. On the ice pulling these guys pissed off out of the hole is great. have caught them on a few ponds here in RI. Just started fishing for them a few years ago, wish i had been doing it since I was a kid.

Comment: Pike are one of my favorite gamefish. Early spring and fall I'll hit the CT River from shore and always do well.

Comment: I am amazed to see the availability of Northerns in Eastern MA. Origanally fron CT., I've caught a few in the Conn. River. I recently acquired a 16 ft aluminum boat, motor and trailer. As soon as it's ready I'll hit the Subbury River and wherever nearby (I live in Stoneham) I can find a Pike. Any suggestions gladly considered.
