My first time out was 3/27 when a buddy of mine told me about a pond that was 90% open water due to having a little current. I started out fishing a steep dropping bank with a jig, jerbait, and a float and fly but no hits. I then hit another area thats a little shallower with brush and laydowns along the shorline, Only managed one bass on a jig but it was around 5lbs, didn't have the scale that day.

Wen't out this past Sunday and only got one bass slow rolling a blade bait, again it was a pig and i had the scale this time, she wen't 5lb 11oz. Wen't out for a little bit on Monday and got 2 bass, one was about 2lbs on a jerkbait and the other went 3lb 1oz on the blade bait. Havn't been doing good for numbers but the quality has somewhat made up for it. All trips were from shore and only for 1-2 hours.

Ended up doing a lot of ice fishing this winter to keep my sanity, and gotta say i really enjoyed it. I just jigged, no tilts. Got a lot of bass in the 1-2lb range and my biggest three bass of the season were 3lbs, 3lb13oz, and one that i didn't have the scale for sadly but was all of 5lbs, and i caught all of them on a ultralight panfish jiggin rod with 2lb test outa 20+ fow, was a lot of fun. Also got a lot of crappie with my personal best that went between 2lb7oz and 2lb 8oz on two different digital scales. Definitely ready for some open water now!

me and my dad started off throwing jigs and jerkbaits for the first 2 hours but they weren't interested so i figured i'd give a kvd 1.5 crankbait a try even tho i didn't really think it was gonna work, but i picked up a small keeper pretty quick so we put everything else down and just started throwing the crank and we picked up 8 bass on it in the next 2 hours, most were small keepers but i was lucky enough to get a nice one that went 5.31 on the rapala digital

Me and my dad hit webster lake for just about 4 hours today. I caught 4 bass all between 2 and 3lbs and he got one that went 2lb 13oz all on blade baits in depths of 13'-25'.

Water temp was 39 just about everywhere. I didn't want to do it, but with the cold temps on the 10 day forcast i had to winterize the boat when i got home, so i guess thats my last time out in the boat this year.

hit the lake for 45 min this morning before i wen't to my doctors appointment, I only brought one rod with a float and fly and got one nice larry that went 3lb 4oz on the digital and a decent size pickerel probably around 2lb. It was freezing cold and most of the lake had skim ice but luckily one of the spots i usually fish this time of year was open.

Did a little fishing off shore today. Got to the water at 7:20, picked up 3 bass around 2lb 2.5lb 1.5lb on the jerkbait and had one get off in about a hour and 20 min. then i went home, had some breakfast and went to another lake off shore from about 9:30-10:30

When i showed up i see the whole west shoreline and most of the south end is covered with skim ice, but luckily i was planning to fish the east shoreline anyway and it was thawed, I'm guessing because of the west winds we've had the past couple days. a few casts in with the jerkbait i get a nice hit right on the drop that goes from about 6ft-12ft and got one of the fattest bass i've ever caught (pic does the fish no justice) he was 18.5''. he actually fought really hard much to my surprise for the water being so cold.

I fished that area for about an hour and picked up one fat 12'' smallie. The snow started coming down really hard so i called it a day. 5 bass between the two spots in about 2.5 hours with water temps somewhere in the 30's i'm guessing, It was a good day on the water and there was hardly any wind at all which made the cold temps tolerable.

went to a small local pond around 100 acres, and fished from the bank, got there at 8:00 and had to leave the fish biting at 9:00, air temp was only 38 deg according to my car.

I only covered an area about 50 yards and that was all it took. the pond usually has a lot of weeds by mid summer but now it just has little patches of nice green weeds.I caught all my fish on a luckycraft pointer 90 and pointer 65 with 4-7 second pauses, and ia have found that if you don't need to get the bait real deep, than braided line with a 3ft froro leader is the way to go, you feal and see every bite.

I didn't have the scale but I think you'll agree with my estamates. Hears a list of the size bass i caught and ill post pics off all the ones over 2lb

got on the water around 10 and was off by 2. In the first 2 hours i landed three nice solid smallies and missed one that looked massive 4+ anyday. It was about ten feet down when it came off but it sure looked like a smallie, might have been a largemouth i suppose. smallest i'm guessing was around 2lb, next biggest 17'' and had a nice belly probably 2.75 and the biggest was a 18'' brute, 3+lb

water temp 44

caught fish between 25-30ft

fished from 1:00 to 4:20 today with my dad. Started off throwing the jerkbait up shallow on the shoreline where the sun was hitting probably 5 casts in i get a good wack and pull in a chunky 3lb2oz lmb soon after i get a 13". fished the jb in a few other spots got one other wack but i set the hook and he musta spit it. Meanwhile dad was getting cranky because he hadn't caught anything so i hooked him up with a blade bait and we started fishing in some deeper spots and he ended up catching 2 smallies around 1.5lb and droped one close to the boat and i caught two smallies around that size as well. Was there a couple days ago and caught 10 bass in 4 hours, so today was kinda slow with only 6 bass landed between the two of us but it was a nice day anyway

I braved the below freezing temps this morning and hit webster lake for 3 hours. I origanaly was gonna virtical jig with some finesse baits, but the wind was stronger than i was expecting so i threw a blade bate on. I managed one just shy of 4lb, a few 1-2lbers, 2 shorts and 2 pickerel. not the best morning numbers wise but with the cold front and all i wasn't complaining.

had a blast jigging up smallies and calico with my 28'' ice jigging rod

the bass have been schooling up in the deep holes on the colder nights we've been having and hang around for a little bit in the am so i decided to get out there at sun rise this morning and give my 28'' ice jigging rod a try. Didn't take long before i had a 12'' calico on, and shortly after i just kept pulling bass up one after another, most were really little but i did manage one nice healthy 17'' smallie and a 14'' and 15'' smallie. I just baught the ice rod last winter and didn't get the chance to use it, so this was my first time using one and i had a blast! I was using 6lb floro and a 1/8oz ball jig with a 2.5'' smoke bait fish colored tube. sorry but i don't want to give my spot away, it gets enough pressure as it is.

I fished off the end off the peninsula at webster lake today for about an hour and a half. Only caught a dink lmb and a nice smallie, around 2.5lb. Caught the little larry on a drop shot and the smallie on a smoke/black flake 4in grub on a 1/8oz jig head in about 4-5 ft of water just off the sand bar.

Me and my dad hit webster lake from 11:30-1:30 today, 3/22.
My trucks at the garage because it's been running crappy so we had to fish off shore. We started out fishing the point of the shoreline to the right of the boat ramp, and in an hour we both picked up three each, 5 lmb ranging from 1-2lb, and my dad got the lunker, a 3+lb smallie. . We caught all but one bass on the drop shot with a 4in zoom grub and i got one on a silver/blue rattle trap. Fish were all caught in 3-7ft of water.

wallum lake
So i heard how warm it was gonna be today and decided to give wallum lake park a call yesterday afternoon and see what the ice situation was. The guys says there's no ice at all! As soon as i got off the phone i was out uncovering the boat and getting it all set. going fishing on january 7, hell yea! so i was out on the water at 8:30 and picked up a 1.5lb lmb in the first 15min @ 32ft deep. about an hour later i get another larry 2lb in 38ft. wind decided to pick up and i couldn't stay on them long enough to get another bite, so i got off the water at 11:30. Didn't do to great but it was still nice to get out on the water in january and didn't freeze my but off either, Felt like spring!

I had a couple hours this morning to go out fishing so I got my but outa bed at 5:30 and was on the water for 7:00. Withing the first 30min i picked up a little 13'' larry in 22ft of water on the silver buddy. fished around that area for another 15min with no more takers. So i headed over to a close by sharp dropping point, made a few casts on the deeper edge about 26ft and had a fish on that puled drag pretty good but it spit my silver buddy just before it was about to brake the surface. so now i got the fishing shakes lol I had to make a few more casts in that area but nothing was biting so i moved a little farther out on the point and made a cast up onto the shallow part of the point about 8ft and had another fish on, a few minutes later after another good fight i puled in a nice fat 19'' smallie. I didn't have the scale with me but i'd say he was 3.5+lb. Wasn't a great day for numbers but a couple of fish in 2 hours this time of the year works for me.

wallum lake smallies

wallum lake, duglas, MA
10/24/2010

I went to wallum this past sunday 10/24 to try to get some smallies. I got there around 11:30 and was off at 4:30. It took me about an hour of searching different depths to find where the smallies where but i did find them. First i tried out deep of a few points in 30-35ft of water but didn't get a nimble, then i went in and fished around some rocks in 5-15 ft of water with no bites still. Finely when i was driving to a new spot i noticed a bunch of schooled up fish on a 22-24ft flat with a some scattered weeds and decided to stop and fish it, and i'm happy i did because it was a good school of smallies! I ended up boating two 2.5lb smb, two 2lb smb, a 1.5lb smb, and a 1lb smb giving me a 11.5lb 5 fish bag. I think that was my biggest 5 smallie bag ever in one outing. I wasn't able to take pics of all the smallies because my phone died half way through the day but i did get a pic of the fist two smallies i got.
