I have wanted to go down to the river for some pre spawn bass for a while now. After reading about Meat7gtk’s trip (and watching River Monsters all last night) I couldn’t take it anymore! I had to go down to the ol’ Chuck rain or shine. Thankfully, there was plenty of shine and Largemouth to be had! The first one I hooked into was actually a little 10 inch guy. I tried to land him, but my dang lure was caught in one of the trees! He shook himself of before I ever got the line free (or the lure back). When the jerk baits, jigs, and spinner didn’t work I went to an old standby, the Red Shad Power Worm! Six casts later I hooked into a nice fat bastard! I was going to release it, but ended up giving it to this Asian guy I met down there, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be his dinner tonight. Eh, whatever. A little charity never hurt anyone. |

First Ice Fish!

Yesterday the Old Man and I headed up to Shellcamp Pond in Gilmanton NH to do a little ice fishing. I had gone out to Sawyer Lake awhile back, but I got skunked. This time we did a little better, having our tip ups trip on several occasions. We only got one of the fish through the Ice however, a smallish Chain Pickerel. It is the first fish of the year for me and the first fish I have ever caught on a tip-up device! |

This trip was actually from several months ago, but for some reason I have been very slow in posting about it. Back in August, I received a small amount of seed money that I added to my own funds to achieve a long standing goal of mine. That goal was to buy a fishing Kayak! I had the liberty of testing it out on the Maine coast before finally taking to my favorite fishing lake. I only caught one Largemouth Bass on this trip, but it is the first fish I have ever caught from my new Kayak, and I hope to add to it in the coming years. Now all I need is a car and I will be in buisness! |

Annual Cod Trip

The famiy and I went on our annual cod fishing trip with the Yankee Fleet last week. The fishing was not as spectacular as the last trip, the dogfish were proving themselves to be an absoloute plauge. Despite that we had some decent fishing with some cusk, cod, haddock, a good size pollock and even a pair of Wolffish! |

Since I had the day off and the weather was nice I decided to head down to the cove for a little bit to do some early morning fishing. On my first cast I caught a nice Chain Pickerel! Thats another species we can add to the list of fish down there! After that I got a few more bites but nothing solid until I caught a small largemouth. Out of the two I'd say the Pickerel was the better fish, as he certainly fought harder! |

I was determined to hit the lake before the approaching rain this weekend. I bought a sub on the way up to Gilmanton and promptly wolfed it down in order to get to the lake in time. To a certain degree it paid off. I went back to the shore spot that I hit up Memorial Day weekend and managed to pull in one bass. I woke up today and found that the rain had stopped so I quickly biked down to the lake for one last shot, pulling up two more bass. Looks like I'm never going back to the dam! |

I spent Memorial Day weekend up in NH with my uncle and my friends. Turkey hunting became useless about two weeks ago so instead I decided to head out onto Sawyer Lake in search of bass. I wanted to avoid the dam this time though because it is starting to get a little crowded these days. So instead I hit up a new area close to the beach I used to swim from as a kid. The results were spectacular. I had hoped to catch smallmouth bass in this area, but I'm happy with the massive amounts of largemouths that I and other fishermen pulled up. |

I went down to the Auburndale cove again today to see if some of my new weedless rigs could fish the developing patches of lily pads. As it turns out, the lily pads are not that thick yet and the bass are hanging out in them! |

I went back up to sawyer lake this weekend for some Bass action and other assorted fish. I had heard stories of people catching smallmouth in the lake and wanted to see if I couldn't catch any. Though there were no smallmouth, I discovered two more species that dwelled in the lake. Some people next to me on the damn managed to catch about 8 white perch and two very large catfish! I also managed some more good sized bass. |

I have been in NH turkey hunting for the better part of May. Scince turkey hunting ends at noon during the spring season, I was able to do some fishing in the afternoons when I still had some energy to spare (which wasnt often.) Finally last night I actually managed to tangle with the largimouths that haunt my favorite spot. |

Scince the end of deer season I have had nothing outdoorsy to do. So I decided last weekend to take up ice fishing. I went on down to bass pro, bought an auger and some lures, drilled a hole in my favorite lake, and got crackin. I caught some perch and a nice bass to top it all off. |

Once again I went up to Sawyer lake for more Bass action. Though this time I got a break from the usual routine and hopped into a canoe with some friends and headed over to Shelcamp for the day. Though there was little action, a great time was had by all! |

After catching nothing last weekend, I went back up to sawyer lake for another try at those Largemouths. Caught two decent ones friday night, and a nice lunker Sunday night. Measuring 18 inches long, it's the biggest Largemouth I've ever caught out of there! |

This was sort of a last minute thing. One night I decided to go down to the river and see If I could catch a bass. Turns out the fish werent the only things biting. Mosquitos drove me in pretty early, but I did manage to get one small Largemouth. |
