The original plan was to fish with Chuck(Landlords), but unfortunately we found out Thursday that he have it back till this week some time. I went to scramble mode Thursday night, and Friday while at work, and finally I had a taker! My buddy Al from my club joined me for the day. Weird day on the water for sure, I thought C-rigging in grass in 12ft plus would be good, nope. Tried dropshotting bait and grass in 12ft-35ft, nothing. Finally what we caught was 5-8ft range drop shotting. Most of our fish came off one 50ft stretch of water in about a half hour. Al caught all 4 of the Smallie in our bag(3-1/4lb, 2lb 1oz, 1lb 5oz, and a 1lb 1oz) and Contributed a 3lb 3oz Largemouth. That gave us 7th place with 10.89lbs. We just could find any more bigger fish to cull with. Nice job everyone, some beauties caught today! Congrats Shawn, and Kev on the Win, and Lunker.

Put in about an hour at the honey hole with Vinny. Panfish all over the place. The bite was real slow though. Jig, drop shot, topwater popper, and walker got nothing. Finally the senko got me a couple rats. A 1lb. and 1/2lb Largemouth on back to back casts, and that was it. Better than nothing!

This spot seems to have slowed a bit. Water quality is changing from day to day lately, clear(for Charles River standards), muddy, to debris, and grass floating downstream. Dropshot got my two 10"-11" Smallmouth, a Yellow Perch, and a Bluegill.

Had about 3 hours to kill after a work seminar, and before my club meeting. I tried 2 stretch's of shoreline, and 2 spots with the frog, jig, senko, and drop shot with no action. As I was stepping over the guard rail at the last spot, I see a 5lber casually swimming out from under the underpass culvrit and into the grass. I couldn't put my stuff down, and get a jig in the water quick enough! I pitched all around the area that it disappeared into, but no dice. Finished up with 3/4lb Largemouth on the jig, and two 10" Largemouth on the dropshot.

My usual stop on the way home from work. Water looks better than a couple weeks ago, less crap in the water. Saw some bait fish pods, but not much going on around them. In about 45 minutes I managed one 1/2lb Smallie casting toward the channel, and a 1lb Largemouth off the Community Rowing Docks on the dropshot. Slow overall, but better than nothing.

Final Pro-Am of the season, will determine the top ten Boaters, and top ten Co-Anglers who will qualify for the T.O.C.(Tournament of Champions). 17 Boaters, 17 Co-Anglers, and the draw at the ramp got me a boater from my club Eric. Nice to fish with someone familiar today. Fishing was a grind today, but Eric ended up with 11 plus lbs and 3rd place on the boaters side, 1st place had 12-1/2lbs. Tops on the Co-Angler side was just over 9lbs, I got 3 keeper Largemouth at 3.92lbs and 7th place for Co-Anglers, 1 more pound could have put me in 4th. Doh! Also keep six 11" Largemouth, and a Big 12" White Perch. Tubes, Jigs, Dropshot, and Senkos all caught me something today. Good, Fun, Hot day on the Charles. With the 7th Finish, it puts me 6th Overall for the year, and Qualified for the T.O.C. at Webster in Oct.

Getting ready for a tourney on 7/14, I stopped by on Thursday after work to see if the water quality had changed since the beginning of the month. River is muddier, and muckier now. Good news fish were still biting.
Caught two 1lb Largemouth, and a 8" Smallie on a senko, and a 1lb 6oz Largemouth on a jig. Not bad for 40 minutes.

Got out for a practice day on the the Mighty Charles for an upcoming tournament in 2 weeks. Fished with my buddy John. Launched at 6am, ended the day at about 5pm. Hot all day, with winds becoming gusty in the afternoon. We went as far up the river as we could, and also as far down as Museum of Science. We caught a lot of fish a lot of different ways, so quantity wasn't the problem. Just never caught found lot of size. John caught about 20 bass total with his best 5 probably in the 9lb range. I had about 15 Bass with only 3 keepers, 2lb, and 1-1/2lb Largemouths, and a 12" Smallie. Lots of sculling boats, lots of big boat trafic, and a 6mph speed limit makes for a long boat ride, lol

I put in about 40 mins after work, Wind was gusty, water was a little clearer than normal. Only threw a dropshot this time around. No big fish tonight, but caught 6 Smallmouth with the biggest 2 at 1lb. Missed 2 others as well. Fun stuff using almost a whole bag of my favorite dropshot bait.

Well I took my girlfriend away for her B-day weekend to nice sweet waterfront cottage on the channel between the main lake, and Paugus Bay. I wasn't planning on fishing this weekend, but 7am on Saturday rolled around, I was awake, she wasn't, so I seized the opportunity. That morning I grabbed a rod that had a inline spinner tied on already, and only threw that. Fished about and hour. Finished with 3 Smallies, biggest being 1-1/2lbs, and missed 2 others that were at least a pound. Next morning same scenario, but this time I started with a senko. 2nd cast I get a 1-1/2 Smallie, and 20 minutes later, I get my biggest of the weekend 1lb 14oz Smallmouth. Switched to the dropshot and Pick-up one more Smallmouth 1lb 13oz to feed my fix for now. Fun times, these fish are fighters, love this lake!

Afterwork, put in about 40 mins here. Nice evening, light winds, water level was up. Only threw a inline spinner, like I usually do here. Ended up with 3 Smallmouth up to a 1/2lb, and 2 Sunfish. These Smallmouth are fighters, hopefully they continue to do well in the Charles!

This was my 1st MAFF tourney this year. Joined with Chuck to defend our Dudley title from last year. Definitely and different day than last summer. Quantity wasn't a problem for us, but putting the quality in the boat that we did last year proved tougher. It started fast and furious as Chuck had 3 Bass on his 1st four casts. We were throwing back 1lb to 1-1/4lbers before we had a limit. We had our limit at 730am, Culled a couple times, and were throwing back 1-1/2lb to 1/3/4lbers the rest of the day cause they didn't help. The bite really slowed after 830am, but we grinded it out. Out of all the bass I caught today, only a 2lber make the final 15.81lb limit, Chuck had the rest including the lunker. Also I caught a 3lb Pickerel, a Yellow Perch, and a dozen Sunfish/Blue Gill.
Good job out there everyone, good competition as always! Thank you Chuck, always fun getting on the water with you! Winning doesn't suck either!

After work trip on Wednesday to see how the water levels were. They are decent, clarity looks worse than normal. I threw a senko in between the brief break in the rain, which yielded me a 18" Pickerel, and a 1-1/2lb Largemouth. I exited stage left as the rain come back again

Put in an hour plus with Vinny tonight. My fun fishing time has been severely cut into this year, so it was nice to get out to even wet a line. Gusty winds, but humid. Vin had got a hand full of Largemouths before I got there. My 2nd cast I got my only fish o the night, 18" Pickerel. Vin also got a 1-1/2lb Largemouth, a Pickerel, and finished the night with a nice 2lb 14oz Largemouth.

23 Boaters, and I was 1 of 16 Co-anglers. Draw at the ramp got me #12 with Very nice guy named Jay. Bright skies all day with wind 10-20mph all day. Some fish were still on beds too! We tried many different areas to try and get a pattern, but it was just a grind all day. Jay had a limit for about 8-1/2lbs. My only keeper was 1.70lb Largemouth. Also got 2 short Smallies, a Yellow Perch, and Fatty of a Pumpkinseed. I think I came in 9th out of 16 Co-anglers, hopefully keeping me in the top 10 overall. Winning weight on the Co-angler side was just over 8lbs, Boaters Side was 14.85lbs with a 5.21lb Lunker Largemouth

25 Boaters, 19 Co-anglers, not a bad field today. I was in my normal co-angler role. Draw at the ramp got me boat # 9, nice gent named Dave. Blue bird skies and light winds to start the day, Water temps 56-60 for the day. Wind kicked up good after 10:30ish. Dave landed his 1st fish at about 7:30, a 1-1/4lb Largemouth. My 1st fish came on a squarebill about 10am. It was a smallie, but was short, doh. About 11:30 I tie on a spinnerbait, and try and make the wind work for me. 1st Keeper Largemouth about 1-1/2lbs about noontime, 2nd Largemouth 1lber about 2:30. Missed one more just before we headed back to the ramp. 2 Largemouth for 2.48lb, it was enough to put me in 6th place out of 19 Co-Anglers. Winning Co-Angler was just over 7lbs, Boater was 14 plus pounds. Spawn seems to be still a week or so from really getting going

A few weeks back I spent about 3 hours on a Friday Afternoon bouncing around Cape in the Dennis area. As much fishing as Ive done down here, its all been saltwater. I tried 3 different ponds before this one, with no luck. Super clean water, but shallow. Swimming a jig around the grass was the key. Got 3 Largemouth, Nothing big, but fun to try new places!

Well I definitely havent been able to take advantage of this great weather like Ive wanted. And My boy Vinny ripping up the honey hole is killing me, lol. So I swung by Crystal after work for about 45 mins. Water level is low, we need some rain. Jig, Rooster Tail, Lipless Crank had no takers. Got a couple Perch on a jerkbait, and a couple feisty Pickerel in the 1-1/2lb range on a squarebill.

Got out for a 4 hour session(10am-2pm) with Vinny in the boat. Got new electronics over the winter, so it was cool messing around with those. Air temps started in the mid 40's, and were about 70 when we wrapped up. Winds 5-10mph, and water temp were 45-48 in the southern section, 48-52 in the Middle and Northern shallower sections. Clarity sucks here, maybe 2ft at best. The only fish of the day come off some shallow wood on my jig. 1-1/2lb Largemouth, good to get the 1st one of the season.

Finally got out on the ice for the first time in 2012. Joined Vinny who put in a couple hours yesterday. When he packed up yesterday he decided to leave 2 traps set overnight. So we got there about 8am, snow was starting to stick. Right away we noticed both traps are tripped, sweet! Vin pulls the 1st one, and what do you know, Fish On! nice 20in Pickerel. So I pulled the 2nd trap, and no s***, Fish On! A 2ft Eel...Yuck! But its a fish, and my 1st Eel ever. After that we set-up the traps, bites started fast, but slowed by the time we packed it in at 12:30pm. Snow just wasnt fun today. Vin's other fish were 2 Largemouth(1lber, and a 2lber) on traps, Perch, and Pickerel jigging, and unfortunately missed about 4lb Largemouth at the hole that the hook popped out. My others were a chunky Perch, and 1-1/4lb Largemouth

Amazing how much bonus fishing time we are getting this year. Got out with Vinny on his B-Day for a little post Christmas fishing (11:30am-2:15p). Sun was bright, and the wind was stiff, but calmed about a half hour in. There was a sheet of thin ice on the back shallow half of the lake, and our areas we've had luck at recently had like an algae bloom/decaying plant green muck thing going on. With about an hour an half left we moved on to a few spots Vin had scoped out that had a little deeper water that looked better as well. I get a follower pickerel, and a follower Bass on back to back cast. 1st fish of the day goes to Vin, ends up getting the Pickerel to bite. I pitch my jig out while Vinny set up his phone camera for me to take a picture. Right when he goes to hand me the phone I feel...tap, tap...and say "Hold on a Sec!", hammer a hook set, and land what would be my biggest fish of the day, beauty of a Largemouth 2lb 10oz. Vin follows that up a 1-1/4lber Largemouth. Im next with a 1lb 7oz Largemouth. Vin's next with a 1lb 5oz Largemouth from a spot a little down from where we started. Get to the last spot we would fish today. I tuck myself in behind some brush so I can flip the wood, and Pick-up a chunky 1lber. Vin get the Last caught of the day, beating my big one by a single ounce. A sweet 2lb 11oz Largemouth for the B-day boy. And with that we called it a day, and having a better outing than some summer days left has with big smiles for sure.

Well I haven't been able to take advantage of this good weather for the last month because my GF dislocated her knee, torn ACL, etc. real mess. Finally I had the opportunity to get to the water for a couple hours(12:30-2:30). Set-up the DVR for the Pats game and headed out. A little chilly, but the wind wasnt bad. Tried a couple areas with crankbaits, jerkbaits, and the jig. Nothing doing early on, and I was getting antsy. About 2pm I moved to what would be my last spot of the outting. Pitch my jig in, and half not paying attention my line takes off, but I realize it to late and miss the hook set. Get a couple more taps, but still dont hook up. The good, fish are here, but I need to get a hook in them. Move 20 ft over to a lay down, pitch my jig in, and land my 1st ever December bass, 15in 1lb 6oz. 3 pitches later I have my 2nd of the day off the same tree, 1-1/4lber. That spot cools off, so back over to where I got the 1st bite. This fish plays with my jig for about 5 mins before I finally got a hookset on it. 1-3/4lber, take a little video, picture, release it and call it a day.

I was able to get in about an hour yesterday, which with the work schedule will probably be about the last time this year except or the weekends. Weather was nice, low winds. Start with crankbait, jerkbait, dropshot, with nothing doing while working my way down the shoreline. I get to the last section I would fish, grab my jig and pitch it to a tree that has about an 8ft section of branches/leaves touching in the water about 10ft out. Start slow dragging back, I feel some rock, and...tick, tick I set the hook and about a 2-1/2lber surfaces and lets go of my jig...dohhh! My jig ended up in the thorn bush next to me, just messy, lol. Retie, Pitch in again for bit, nothing. I moved about 10ft down there is a huge tree down and the top lays down in the water, pitch about 10ft out on it, start dragging back, I feel the branches, as I feel the jig pop off a branch...thump, set the hook, and this one is not getting away. Swing em on shore, measure, and weight 15-3/4in 1lb 11oz, get my picture and back she goes for another day. Would have look to get the other one too, but not bad for a November day.
