Well, we're loosing daylight quickly, and that sucks. Anywhere, I battled the traffic afterwork, and meet up with Vinny at the secret spot. He was slaying them before I got there, including one that if it wasnt 5lbs is was close. Long story short, the evening cooled way down, the wind picked-up, and killed the bite. I ended the night with one 10" Largemouth.

Looking to start September on the right foot, I meet up with Vinny after work at about 6:30pm at one of the very few secret spots we have. Fished till about 8pm. Calm, hot evening with consistent action. Vinny had about 8 Largemouth I think, biggest at about 1-1/2lbs. I finished up with 4 Largemouth, biggest being 1-3/4lbs. Then the mosquitos come out...good night!!!

Had the pleasure again of teaming up with Bam for this tourney. Scorcher of a day, with some wind on the main lake. We plugged away all day, finding alot of fish, but also alot of nonkeepers. We both finished up with 2 keepers a piece never finding that 5th keeper to fill the limit, but it wasnt from lack of effort. Our final tally was 4 fish @ 4lbs 13oz(Bam had a 3/4lb Smallie, 1lb Largie, I had a 3/4 Smallie, and a 2lb 3oz Largemouth) putting us tied for 5th place, and 1oz out of the money, dohhh. Nice job everyone! Thank you Bam for having me aboard. And once again congrats to Chuck, and Mark, you guys are top notch!!!

Took a 8 hour Cod/Haddock charter with Captain's Fishing Parties out of Newburyport, MA. Joining me was my girlfriend, Vinny and Chad. They took us out to Jeffries Ledge, around and back. Bait used was the clams supplied by the boat, fishing in anywhere from 260' to 175'. Beautiful day, very sunny, 1-2ft seas. Fishing was slow overall, but the 4 of us did ok. Vinny won the "Biggest Fish Pool" with a 30lb White Hake. Monster of a fish with a big, fat belly. My girl did well landing 5 fish (2 Cod, 2 Cusk, and 1 Haddock), I ended up with only two fish, my 1st and 2nd ever cusk. 1st one (not pictured) with about 25", 2nd one was about 20". Can you say Fish Chowder later this week? Bonus to the trip was seeing a 15ft Blue Shark come up beside the boat, and also seeing a couple Whales surface. Good times!!!

Well I was not going to fishing, but I thought to myself on the way home from work "With all this volatile weather the last couple days, the fish could be on fire". So I suited up with the rain jacket and braved the crappy weather. Grabbed a rod with a Rooster Tail on it and started chucking. 2nd cast, 11-3/4" Smallmouth. A couple minutes later, 10" Smallmouth. 5 minutes later, 13" 1lb Smallmouth. A couple minutes later, 8" Smallmouth. A couple minutes later I broke off one that felt just as good, if not better than the 1lber. I was about to take off, but I tied on another Rooster Tail for the hell of it. 5 minutes later, 12-1/2" 14oz Smallmouth. A couple minutes after, 11" Smallmouth. All in all, I lasted about 40 minutes and hauled in 6 Smallies, love it!

Broke off a decent Smallie on a senko, and lost 2 other smaller ones on a Rooster Tail. Finished the night with a 6" Yellow Perch, and 2 Smallmouth with the biggest being 1lb.

Fished with new friend Brandon, aka BAM today. Thank you for letting my fish with you. We found that the bite was on early, but after the wind shift at about 11am it was like ghost town. Brandon caught 3 of our 4 fish. The one largemouth I caught was the big one of the 4 at about 1-1/2lbs. We both lost/broke a half a dozen fish each, easily could have added 5lbs to our total at weigh-in. Total weight 4lbs 13oz, minus the 1/2lb penalty for a dead fish gave us 4lbs 5oz and a 6th place finish. Good job everyone one, Congrats to the Landlords, and thanks Johnny for cooking for us!

Checked out 4 other places before I got to this spot. Dudley Pond in Wayland was the 1st stop(Brutally low water level), Heard Pond in Sudbury 2nd(Brutally low water level, worse than 2 weeks ago), College Pond in Weston 3rd(So choked out, I could almost walk across it), Charles River Waltham Boat Ramp (Brutally low water level, and it smelled horrible over there), and finally after wasting most of the night, I got to the Watertown boat ramp at about 7:45pm. Only had about 25mins till it was dark. Only threw a Rooster Tail cause thats the only thing that had worked for me here lately. 5th cast in I got my only bite of the night, which is the biggest Charles River Smallmouth Ive caught so far. A nice, healthy looking Sally coming in at 14-1/2" 1lb 3oz.

On a side note, Not that I what it, But we need it to rain...alot...our local waters are looking rough. It cant be good for the fish.

On a second side note...I need a margarita!

Well I gave it another shot tonight. The temp drop, the wind, and and dropping water level due to low tide did not help my cause. I got in about 2 hours tonight. I threw a tube, and only got a few nibbles, a weighted t-rigged ocho got nothing, Swimbait nothing, crankbait nothing, Buzzbait nothing, Senko nothing(to windy to be weightless), Rattletrap nothing. Of course I start throwing the Rooster Tail and caught 5 small fish, finished up with a 6" white, 2 6" Yellow Perch, a 7" Largemouth, and a 11-1/2in Smallmouth.

I didnt have much time, but I needed the 1/2 hour I got to relax a bit. Nice evening, a little windy at times. Started with a tube, but no takers. Switched to the Rooster Tail and the action was on, 10" Smallie, 12" 3/4lb Smallie, 8" Smallie, 5" White Perch, 6" Yellow Perch, and finished up with a 12" 10oz Smallie, plus I had 2 more Smallies shake the hook! I be back tommorow with my good gear to see if I can upgrade those Smallmouth.

This location has quickly became a go to spot when I have very little time to fish because it basically my half way point, and I drive right by it to go home. Example tonight I only had about 20 minutes to spare. Threw a tubes for about 10 minutes, a couple taps, but no takers. Finished up the last ten minutes throwing a Rooster Tail, and pulled in 2 Smallies a little bigger than the 10" variety Ive been catching here lately. The 1st was 11-1/4" 1/2lb, 2nd was 12" 3/4lb. Still not size Im looking, but I take it, especially for only being out 20 mins.

Well I got to my Heard's spot about 6pm and man was it windy. And wow is the water level WAY DOWN, at least a foot and half. This wind sometimes throws me off my game, but I needed to adapt. Normally, I wouldnt think of throw any topwater in this situation, but I decided I was gonna burn a Rage Frog in and around the pads. To my pleasant suprise I was getting some strikes. I about 6 strikes with no hook ups in about 30 mins till BAMMM, big hit, and fish on. A couple minutes to work it out of the pads, and have my 1st decent frog catch, and biggest Largemouth of 2010 so far weighing in 2lb 13oz. Nice little chunk. I caught this fish in tops 2 feet of water, where its usually 3 to 4 feet of water. I tried flipping the pads, but to shallow. I tried a tube, weighted t-rig ocho, shakey head creature bait, and more frog with no actions the rest of the night. Next step, break the 3lb mark this year...

Only had about a 1/2 hour of fishing time to kill after work, and with only basic gear, I didnt have many options. I started with the Rooster Tail, and had 2 Smallmouth of the 10" range, and a 8" Yellow Perch in about 15 minutes. Tried throwing a tube, but the biggest tube weight I had with me was only 1/16oz so with the wind I was having a hard time feeling the bottom. I getting a couple bites, and hooked up briefly with another Smallie before it jumped and spit the hook. Went back to the Rooster Tail, since the wind was gusting a bit, to finish up the last 5 minutes I had left. Hookie up again briefly with another small Smallie that spit the hook, got one more yellow perch.

After work I had very limited time, I think I got in about a 1/2 hour tops. Nice night, slight breeze, wish I had more time. With only limited gear I only was throwing a senko and a Rooster Tail. Big schools of tiny bass(1"-2") following the bait everytime. Finished up with a 7" Largemouth on the Rooster Tail, and my 1st ever Smallmouth out of this place 12in 10oz on the Senko. I love finding those bronze backs in local waters!!!

I dont have many secret spots, but this is one of them. The whole southern section of this place is so matted I could barely flip an 1-1/4oz weight through it. Frogging wasnt affective either. So I moved over to the northwestern shore line which is much better. Ended the night with 2 largemouth on the senko, with the biggest weighing in at 2lbs.

Well the prefishing we did the day before was of no use, lol. Tough day as conditions were different, and recreational traffic was crazy. We struggled all day, Vinny broke off a pig, and by close to noontime we were ready to pack it up. We decided to hit an area that was away from the action, and found 2 fish(1-1/4lb, and 1-1/2lbs) in about 10 minutes. Finished up in a different area and found our biggest fish of the day (2-1/4lbs). We went from thinking we were gonna get skunked, to finishing the day with 3 fish for about 5lbs for an 8th place finish. Not please as we got our momentum to late in the tourney. Good Job everyone who fished, and the Hawghunters on the win, and Kman on the nice Lunker!

Well the plan was to be on the water around 7am to scope out this place since neither Vinny or I had ever fished here. But thanks to B-day get together for me at the bar the night before, my hungover ass placed our start time back to about 12 noon, lol. With peak heat, and recreational traffic we struggled. Vinny finished the day with one 2-1/2lb Largemouth, and I had a bluegill, and a 1lb Bass. Im thinking this place is much better in the early spring to spawn time.

Expecting Thunderstorms, I didnt bring my regular gear, but I always have two 2-piece set-ups in my trunk and a few assorted plactics and lures for days like this. The water has cleared up from last week, and I must have caught slack tide, cause there was no current. Didnt catch the quality Im looking for, but got 4 Yellow Perch(2 on Rooster Tail, 2 on F-5 Rapala Floater) in the 8"-10" Range, and a 10-1/2in Smallmouth on a senko.

And my 2nd stop for the day, I bounced around 6 different spots on the Sudbury Res. The water here is a little cloudy too. Gustly wind at times, along with some scorching sun. Missed a decent fish when I didnt feel the bite until I reel up the slack and felt and saw about a 2lber, but it was too late. Finished with 2 Largemouth, and 1 Pickerel.

Well my freshwater struggles continued tonight. I made 2 quick stops on the Charles in Waltham, and Watertown, before ending up at the Mystic in Medford. I only had light tackle with me so I was a little limited of what I could fish. 1st Stop was Purgatory Cove in Waltham, and man is the water chestnut thick over there. Next time Ill bring my flipping gear there. No action, just turtles, and 3 15lb+ Carp swam by. Headed to Watertown boat ramp, and caught a 10" Largemouth on the 2nd cast. That area is very murky/slimey at the moment, so I moved on to the Mystic River. A little murky, but not as bad a Watertown. Pads are in thick to the sides of the channel. Picked up a 9" Yellow Perch quickly on a Rooster Tail, then started throwing a senko. And here is where my struggles continue over a course of 30 mins. 1st bite I miss it, 2nd bite good fish comes off halfway back, 3rd bite 10" Smallie, 4th bite I didnt really feel because of the current, but a nice Smallie rolls on it and lets go, 5th bite miss it, 6th bite 10" smallie, 7th bite I break off a good fish...Ill shake this slump one of these days...hopefully sooner than later!!!

Im sure I can speak for both of us when I say this isnt our favorite place to fish. Good job everyone, and Congrats to Chuck and Mark on another win. Well, I was on vacation down the Cape for about 8 days (7/2 -7/10). Weather wise we couldnt have had it any better. Tons of beach time, bbq, beers, great friends, and a bunch of new friends as well. My 1st time being out to Crowes, and its a different but cool set-up. About 5-10mins ride through the woods to get to the 4x4 beach, with expansive flats. So when the tide is low you can drive way out on the flats, but you gotta watch your time window out there cause the tide does roll back in pretty fast, maybe a 4hr time window.

Anyway, I didnt get much fishing time, only this one day. My friend have raked some sand eels the day before, which seems to be the bait of choice for this area. So we park the truck on high spot on the flats so we dont have to move it right away. Throw some sand eels in a plastic baggy, stick them in your pocket, get 1 rod(7ft lighter surf setup), and wade out into the shallows toward the channel.

Well things were looking good as I waded out, lots of birds around, as I got to water about half way up my thigh, clearly I can see the Stripers chasing bait fish around, and I am pumped. Watching them swim around 5-20ft around your feet is intense as hell. I cast out, and re-bait a few times because of the crabs. 20 mins in I get my 1st strike and my line is screaming to the left, reel up the slack, set the hook, and Im on. Good one I say to my self as its pulling some drag. Couple minutes later, I have it to me, hold up to the measurement mark(28in) I put on my rod to make shore its a keeper, and its over. So I make a 5min walk through the shallows, and flats to bring it back to the truck. Measures 29in weighs 7lb 8oz. Filet it and give it a decent beach burial.

Again I grab my rods and head back to the shallows, and there are still fish all over the place. 10 mins later my bait get pounded again, reel up slack and set the hook...my drag is humming, I think I spouted out "Holy F*&!!!" As my rod is doubled over, I can see the fish way out jumping around pulling drag. About 5 mins later its swimming to me making the fight a little easier. Get in to me in about ass deep water, and as I go the lip it I hear SNAP...Stunned as about 2 ft of my rod breaks off. Lucky for me I have braided line on, so I lip the fish, check the measurement mark, definately bigger, hoof back to the truck. Measures 34in weighs 11lbs 9oz.

Sorry if Im a bit long winded on this story. But for a 2 Keeper day in about 30mins, the timing was definately on my side for sure. Great experience all around. And dinner was excellent too!!!
