Squam
9/25/2010

Last Club tourny to determine Mr Bass for 2010. The shores of Squam did not provide a lot of fish for our membership as the bite was definetly off and pattern, what pattern? No limits caught, 1st place to Brian with Sm for 3.74lbs,This win secured the title of Mr. Bass for Brian also! Jared came in 2nd with 2 Sm including a lunker of 2.8lbs to total 3.64, and I managed 3rd with 2 sm at 3.04lbs. the rest of the club went down from there with smaller bags of 1 or 2 sms. Water level was down about 3 ft making a lot of the old boathouses unusable. The sms were fat and seemed to be feeding on 3 inch baitfish. Poor results for our last outing of 2010, but we did get to spend it on one of the nicest lakes in N.E.

Wallum Lake
8/28/2010

Am trip to Wallum with my son Brian. Started out good with Brian pulling a 1 1/2 lb Lm off the marker south of the beach and shortly afterward a 12" Sm out of 10 ft of water. After 7 am the bite became very slow and we resorted to deeper water with c rigs where we could feel a few bites but I was only able to land one small Sm. It was great to get out and spend the morning with Bri.

Lake Chauncy
8/15/2010

Sunday morning on the water. I could have caught as many fish in church! Yea, I pulled a goose egg, fishing from 6 am to 11 am. Did not see anyone else taking fish either till the end of my outing I went over in front of the beach and witnessed a young man take 3 bass in 20 minutes. Oh well, thats why Its called fishing and not catching.

Winni
8/7/2010 - 8/8/2010

BVBA tournament Winni for 2 days. First day fished all new water that I had never fished before and found smallies on every spot. locations were all between Wolfboro and the opening of Alton Bay. Small fish caught in 12-5 ft range keepers were in 20 -30 ft of water. No monsters , and probably broke off 25 c rigs in the rocks. 2nd day went to familiar waters in Paugus bay in search of weeds (sick of retying) Scored a few Lms to start with and went out deeper for some Sms. My partner for the day Joe Caught lunker for the weekend with a 5lb Lm taken in 5 ft of water w/ a wacky senko. All smallies caught were in the 1 3/4 - 2 1/2 lb range All Sms were caught with a Carolina rigged 6" lizard or 5" brush hogs

Northwood Lake N.H.
7/11/2010

BVBA tournament proved to be a tough fish for all envolved. Overcast start of tourny led to a few showers and eventually a sunny breezy afternoon. I fished hard with the secret bait(s) and by 11:45 had not one keeper to show for5 hrs of effort. Took a time out, called a friend, ate a sandwich, consulted the lake map and decided to try a windblown shore at the center of the lake. Pulled into a dock filled shoreline, noticing a grassy area out in 7-9 ft of water. Flipped and pitched docks, boats and rafts, nothing. Switched to scaled down C-rig (1/4 oz weight with 2 ft leader and a watermelon red Brush hog jr.) and threw out to the grass that was out a little deeper all along this shore. Started getting very light bites and in the last 2 hrs was able to catch 6 keeprs, best 5 of which gave me 7lbs, with a mix of Lm and Sm. I was one of two contestants to catch a limit and finished second, ounces behind Big Al.

Spent the evening out on Whitehall as the fourth winded down. 5 Lms caught and a coupla runt size pics. Action very slow and as usual the bass were all Saulen sized (Approximately 11 3/4 inches) its possible that 2 were legal length. Twas a beautiful eve though, and hung out on the water till 9:30 w/ fireworks going off all around the lake, I lasted until the skeeters started biting.

Ossippe Lake N.H.
6/12/2010 - 6/25/2010

Yea I know it's in N.H., but I did spend 2 weeks there so... Caught lots of bass and pickeral. Boated around 120 bass both Sm and Lm. Found the Spawn to be over and the fishing started out slow on arrival but picked up as the vacation went on. Interesting fact at this time there was that 90% of the bass caught were all relating to where ever sparse weeds could be found (there are'nt many). Smaller fish on the inside, bigger fish on the outside. Best spots were outside weed edges 10-12 ft deep with drops to 20-30 close by. Docks produced damn few fish as did rafts and moorings. Weeds in the channel current had the most numbers, and after a few days I concentrated only on these areas. Spinnerbaits, carolina rigging, crankbaits, jigs, and drop shotting did not produce. King Senko is the bait that worked. The Bite was so light that on perfectly calm days, you'ld watch the line and never see it twitch, but on pick up to retreive you'ld have one. So i started popping my line every so often, on the drop and off the bottom, resulting in 3 times the number of hook ups. The pickeral would usually slam the baits when you were reeling in and were a lot of fun as they were in the 1 1/2 - 2 1/2, and fought like tigers. Lots of 2-3 lb Lms, with a 4 1/4 and one that was just under 5. Big smallie went 3 1/4 and they ranged 5 inches to an average of1 1/4 lbs. Drop shotting was used a few times when fish were detected in 13 - 20 ft in schools away from weeds. They were usually whitefish 10- 15 inches long. Last day went out for 2 hrs and caught 30 fish before taking the boat out. Good Fishing, always caught something whenever I went out and a great place to vacation.

Mashpee
6/5/2010

A club tourny with a great calm start with overcast, an hours worth of lightning 9 -10 am drove us all off the water, and drizzle for the rest of the day. 2 Limits of 5 caught, with winning bag of 11 1/2 lbs, caught on 8 inch wacky rigged senkos on a red hook. Very slow morning , I caught 3 after lighting, 1 runt sm, a 13 inch lm, and a 3 1/2 lb lm caught on a 8 inch wacky watermelon senko w/ red octopus hook, put me in 4th place.

I took my ex neighbor 18 yr old Ryan, after hearing of his recent interest in fishing, out to score him his 1st bass. Certainly a very rewarding expeirience, as I got to witness him crank in 5 smallies in the 12-14 inch range and the bonus of a 15 inch rainbow (also his 1st!) The look on his face when the 1st smallie bit... Priceless! Turning someone on to bass fishing is the catch of the day, anyday!

Small tournament went well everyone caught fish and 7 of 8 boats came in with a 8 fish limit. Lots of small Lm bass caught 12-14 inch size, and the smallies are breeding as 3 short ones were caught also. The 4 1/2 lb lunker gave first place to Mike and Rob with a 13 lb bag of fish, 2nd went to Bob and Bill with a 12 lb bag and Joe and Matt took 3rd with their 11 1/2 lb limit. Bro Joe and I did not weigh ours in as we had an escapee at weigh in and a 1 1/2 lber jumped out of the livewell and swam away with the culling rope before we saw where we placed. What ya gonna do? All of our fish came on wacky rigged senkos, Joe threw 5 inchers and I threw 4 inchers, again today i had no bass interested in jigs, though the pickeral feasted on them.

Solo trip to North pond this morning 6am -11am was the opposite of the previous day at Ripple. No fish and very few bite with anything from 6-9 but covered alot of water looking for them with small tourny happening 5/22. 3 bass 8-14 inches were caught. About 915 a pic about 18 inches just about ripped my rod out of my hands as I was spacing out. Bass and pic caught on 5 inch Texas Senkos Bl/Bl. Only light taps felt w/jig, the bait that always works here, oh well better luck tomorrow.

6am- 12pm venture onto the shores of Winthrop. Lms still do not seem to have spawn yet. With water temps from 59-67 they should be spawned out, but no nesting signs or red fin was noted. Started out slow w/very few bites b4 9am, but picked up later in the morning, although nothing of size was taken. I caught 11 bass and 8 pics throwing wh spinnerbait and white senko rigged Texas, while Bro Joe threw his trusted wacky rig Senko and scored 9 bass and 3 pics. Attended Ma. Bass open w/Ed S. chilly start with temps in the 30's and a stiff wind out of the north. Fishing was slow but playing the wind pounded shores paid off with an 8 fish limit by noon. Our fish all came shallow 1-5 ft of water, 1 on R-trap, 1 on spinnerbait, and the rest came on a scaled down carolina rig set up with a 1/4 oz peg tube sinker 1 ft above bait, a 5 in zoom watermelon lizard. Best 8 went 20.5 lbs, good for 5th w/ a 2.5 lb average. 4 or 5 5lbers were caught that beat us down. Good time had with my Buddy though, I don't get to fish with him enough!
