5/18/2014

Got to lake around 9:30 am... and fished till 3... windy as hell out there... tough to catch fish in the pads cause the wind was blowing the boat around making it difficult to cast and work frogs.... caught 4 bass and 7 pickerel today... missed more than I could count from hits on frog in pads... again.. I beleive the wind made it difficult for fish to really suck down the frog ... all in all.. good day pics posted in my photo section....

Rainbow Lake
5/15/2014

Got to the Lake around 6:30.... fished till 1.... Caught 8 Bass, 9 Pickerel, and 1 Crappie (see photo's). Bass were in the Pads, but most of them were in pads in deeper water ( like 3 to 4 feet) not the 0ne foot shallow coves I have been catching them in the last few weeks.... Was using a large frog but kept missing the hits.... tied on the smaller frog and started nailing bass and pickerel.. Caught one pickerel about 2 pounds on the frog... funny thing... the pickerel had a fairly big sunny in its gut.. the sunnys tail was still sticking out of the pikes mouth.... unreal that it still hit the frog... they are just mean nasty fish... love catching them

It was a cloudy day... very light breeze. Got out around 9am and fished till 4.... caught 11 BASS & 14 PICKEREL... Fish caught on the following lures... FROG...CHATERBAIT...RAPALA...PLASTIC WORM... PLASTIC LIZZARD... most fish caught on lizzard and frog.... Fish were in shallow water chocked with weeds and algea. Water was only a foot deep. Bass were busting the Frog really good... Lost a nice size pickerel (about 3 pounds) as well as the frog he hit when his teeth sliced through my braided line! All the pickerel caught were small... like around 15 inches... Most of the bass caught were around 2 to 2.5 pounds... did catch one just under 4 pounds and on around 3.... all in all a great day

Pond back in woods
3/21/2014

Decided to fight the wind today and went out down Cumberland County. Went back in the woods to a small farm pond. It was windy as hell, blowing right at me. Bank fished using purple lizard, 4" with 1/8 oz sinker. Caught 3 pickerel in one hour... one pretty nice size the other two about 15 inches.... Felt good to get out and nail my first fish of the 2014 season...

New Brooklyn Lake
3/9/2014

Well... the temp was in the mid 50's and I had some free time to kill, so yes, I finally got out and fished. Went local , New Brooklyn Pond up the road and fished for some pickeral or bass. Just wanted to get out-- make some casts... and hopefully catch something... Well, I didnt catch anything... but did have a decent size pickerel follow in my bagleys shinner crankbait... a friend of mine was using a 6 inch crawfish color worm and nailed a small bass ( about 12 inches). It was great to see my first bass of the year , but have to admit-- I was a bit pissed I got skunked.... cant wait... weather should start to warm up soon.... I'll be out there for some pickerel... bass... and of course... my quest for a 20+ pound carp! talk to you all soon.....

Big Timber Creek
12/20/2013

Got out on Friday the 20th for some carp fishing and scouting new spots for this spring.... Didn't have any luck with carp but landed a 3 pound channel cat. It felt great to get out and catch something in December.... As far as the scouting went... well, I think I found a few spots for this spring... Fished the Big Timber Creek near the Delaware River. On interesting thing that I came upon was an old man that lived along the Creek came out to talk to me while I was fishing.. he asked me to come see something in his garage... there on the wall was a huge muskie mounted that his son had caught out of the Creek in front of his home.. it was about 3 feet long.... I was shocked that it came out of the creek.... he proceeded to tell me a story about one evening they were sitting out on the dock and a monster muskie came up from behind a young duckling and engulfed it whole... there must be some monsters in there.....

Cooper River - Pennsauken
12/4/2013

well... I went out again today to the same spot I got skunked at yesterday and baited after I left... wel, fished there for 3 hours and nothing... no sign of life... so I moved upstream to fish below the damn/fish ladder.... only caught on small catfish... but at least I didnt get skunked... I did have some hits... prolly small fish... no carp runs at all... but did see signs of fish... it was great to get out.. but I think I may be giving up my quest for carp until spring.. from now on Iwill prolly fish for pickerel on nice days... I was told that carp tend to school up in winter and are not very active (like most species). I haven't been fishing long enough for carp to have any ideas where to fish for them.. I will spend some time this winter looking for new spots along the Delaware River...hey... join our new group CARPING IN SOUTH JERSEY.!!

Cooper River - Pennsauken
12/3/2013

Well, since the temp was going into the mid 50's today I mixed up some ground bait, grabbed a can of corn and set out to Cooper River in an attempt to catch carp. Got out late and only had about 21/2 hours to fish.... didn't catch anything... not even a catty. I didnt even get a nudge or a run... every time I reeled in to check on the bait it wasnt touched. So, since its gonna be in the mid 50's again tomorrow before I left I threw out a ton of ground bait hoping that some fish are attracted to it and I will be back same spot tomorrow... tough time of year for carp... with the water this cold... they don't move around or eat much..... I'll check back in tomorrow and let you all know how I do....

Pond back in the woods in Cumberland County
11/23/2013

I had about an hour to kill and as always I had a rod and tackle box in the back of my truck... Decided to check out a pond back in the woods that Ive fished for years with awesome results... It's private property.. but I have never been chased... anyway... it was windy and cold ( 48 degrees).... Landed a 4.5 pound bass on a purple 7 inch worm and caught three pickerel on a bagleys. It was awesome nailing the bass... one of my largest of they year.... but I saw a pickerel chase my lure right up to the bank just under where I was standing.... no BS,,,,, this was one of the largest pickerel I have ever seen... it had to weigh around the 6 to 7 pound range... looked about 30 inches long and wide and fat! It swam right up to my lure and opened its mouth and flared its gills as I pulled the lure out of the water..... it just stayed there for like 15 seconds and swam away..... my heart was racing man.... I tried like hell to catch it.... used about a half dozen different lures but nothing... I will be back... in the mean time... catching that bass made my day!!

Timber Creek
11/15/2013

Since the weather was pretty nice... 60 degrees.. I decided to try a new spot I found on google maps... timber Creek down by the Delaware River. Used sweet corn on a hook bait and threw our some ground bait (oats-corn-strawberry jello-maple syrup) with my spomb. Well, I fished from 12 noon till 3:00. High tide when I first got there. In three hours I caught 7 channel catfish up to 6.5 pounds. Most of them were around 2 to 3 pounds. NO CARP so I was a bit upset, but had good action all day. Will definatley go back to this place in spring. I know there are huge carp in there upwards of 30 pounds but today just didnt land any.

Rainbow Lake
11/11/2013

went out for about 4 hours with some nightcrawlers and corn. Just wanted to get out and enjoy watching two young boys who like to fish catch fish.... First lake we stopped at was a lake back in the woods that I usually catch some nice bass and pickerel.. nothing in 15 mins of fishing so we went to Rainbow Lake. Below the damn we could not cast our lines in without getting a bite... seriously.. between the three of us we caught 3 LM Bass, 1 calico bass, and over a hundred...YES 100!!,... bluegills and sunnies.... an incredible day for the boys.. they absolutly loved it. We fished till the sun was going down.... All smaller fish.. but on light tackle and this time of year... we all had a blast!! Love to watch kids catch fish and that is why I took them here.... get em hooked on fishing early on... and they will be hooked for life!
