On advice of counsel, I'll leave the exact location as undisclosed. It is a great spot and my son and I had a fun day, even though he came up empty. He had both a LMB and SMB throw hooks as he tried to swing them over the side. Next time we will be netting. I caught a new personal best 3.75 LB LMB and a tiny SMB. We also hooked some monster smallmouths that threw their hooks with spectacular leaps. I may need to add trailer hooks on my inline spinners.

Hit up Oldham Pond in Pembroke for the first time and was not disappointed. Hooked up a 1LB largemouth that threw his hook, on the western side of the large island. I made my way to the western side of the medium island and snagged a 2.75LB largemouth and a 1LB Crappie on a Texas Rigged Gamakatsu 2/0 Glock with a Berkley Gulp Alive 4" crawler in natural color. I had nibbles all day on those bad boys, but only boated two fish.

Woke my son from a dead sleep this morning at 7:30. "What where are we going? It's summer vacation can't I sleep later?" Let's fish Halfway Pond in Plymouth. Never been there and didn't realize the dirt roads I needed to navigate in my Civic with a canoe on top. Got as far as Gallow Pond, when a large dip with 2 feet of water in it stopped us and some fellow fishermen standing by convinced us to try there instead. No regrets. My son nabbed a huge 2.75 lb largemouth and I caught a 2.5 lb smallie. We boated 5 fish all together and had a couple throw their hooks. It was a great way to spend the 4th!

A little after work frogging produced a 1.25 LB Largemouth over in Abington. It destroyed my frog as you can see in the pic

Stopped by my favorite spot on the way home from work and caught a nice 2.5 lb Largemouth on a top water popper. I love successful 1 hour trips.

Caught a 1lb Largemouth at lunch today along the lily pads at Whitmans on a small BooYah Pad Crasher Cricket Frog. Gulped it up while it was walking alongside the lilies. One thing I noticed with this bait is that, while it is very effective, I have double hooked two straight fish deep in the gills. This one was bleeding pretty bad I noticed after I put it back in the water. So much for catch and release.

Went out on my canoe at 5PM tonight. Started near the island with a variety of baits and got nary a nibble. I worked my way over to the far western shore and found a couple of small lily pad fields. I whipped a top water BooYah 1/4oz Cricket Frog into one of them, let it sit for 10 seconds and WHAM! A 3LB Largemouth smoked it. Both hooks deep down its throat. Luckily I had a good hook removal tool and got them out pretty quick. The water is alot deeper than I thought it was there and the visibility is less than a foot.

My son and I ventured out on a very windy adventure at noon today. Headed south off the boat ramp against the wind and let the wind drift us back while we trolled inline spinners. Got no nibbles at all on the western shore so we headed accross the pond and found the sweet spot in the northeast corner near the deepest part of the lake. We had the trolling motor on medium and trailed our lures and I snagged a 1lb Smallmouth. Then my son caught a sunfish and a 10oz Smallmouth on back to back casts. He was very excited as the smallie jumped out of the water a 1/2 dozen times. The wind really got the best of us though and we had to head in as waves started to crash over the sides of the canoe. All in all a challenging but very fun day.

Spent the afternoon in my new canoe. First catch was a snapping turtle (photo not available). It destroyed my jig and luckily wasn't actually hooked and let go when it reached the surface. Took awhile to find where the fish were gathered but once I did they were craving nothing but top water baits. Caught a 1lb crappie on a Rebel Pop-R. Got a couple of nice attempts after but nothing hooked. Then I had something large snag my Rebel Frog. Unfortunately I got too agressive with it on my 8lb test line and it snapped off taking the lure. I was very happy to find it a short time later floating near where I had lost it. I tied it on my baitcaster with 17lb fluro and got another strike right away. Very fiesty small largemouth that made a huge leap throwing the lure. Overall a learning experience about top water techniques which I quickly have fallen in love with.

Stopped over at Forge Pond in Hanover for, literally, 10 minutes after work and caught a 2.75 lb 17 inch Largemouth off the boat launch. Picture kinda sux. I had my iPhone in a baggy to protect it.

First Bass of the Year! 2.85 lb Largemouth on a Strike King Premier Plus 3/8oz Bluegill. Was paddling in with my son after long day fighting a steady wind. He had just asked me to help him paddle, and I threw one last cast near the Island and WHAM. It was very sweet. My son come up empty this trip, maybe next time.

And I caught another pickerel. Is it the bait I'm using???

Pickerel-fest continues. Caught this little guy at lunch today. A whopping 13" and about 1/2 a pound. Nailed the same KVD 1.0 square bill crank bait that I used on Friday (minus the front treble of course). He ran up on it as I was pulling in out of the water on one cast and grabbed it on the next one. Fish are so stupid sometimes. :)

Caught my first fish of 2013. 19" 1.5 lb Chain Pickerel. Felt kind of bad. It swallowed the front treble on a KVD 1.0 square bill crank bait and I had to cut the hook off the lure. He swam away freely though.
