In keeping with tradition, we had lines in exactly 1 hour before dawn. Also in keeping with tradition, the wind was icy and relentless.
8 fish were caught between 5 people:
2 Hornpout, 5 Rainbow Trout & 1 Brook Trout.
Only recording my own catches by hotspot.
I have to hand it to the NH Fish & Game Department for another well stocked pond. |

It may not have been my first outing of the season, but, it was my first catch of the year that wasn't a Bluegill or Fallfish.
Bright sunny day, the water was very high and very cold and I only went out for about an hour... and managed to catch the smallest Largemouth Bass I have ever seen on a hook. |

My first night fishing excursion of the season. Though slightly rainy it was still a good time.
I had also never been to Naticook Lake before, so I didn't know what to expect other than general warmwater species... but was dark, rainy and if you let bait hit the bottom long enough, a catfish will eventually eat it.
So that's what I did! |

I was very much looking forward to a long holiday weekend camping and fishing in a place I have never been - Coleman State Park in Stewartstown, NH.
The weather, however, had very different plans for us...
38 degrees, rain, sleet, snow and sustained 25mph winds put a swift and painful end to a well geared, well planned and much anticipated 4 day trip.
It takes a lot for Mike or myself to "tap-out" due to weather and we did account for wet conditions... this was just more than we were willing to deal with and not worth hypothermia. |

Took a nice little after work trip to Bowers Pond with a couple fishing buddies. It was beautiful out and I was in the mood for some easy fishing and this spot seldom fails to entertain.

A nice, warm late afternoon trip to the Wilton end of the Souhegan River. We started further up Rt.101 but didn't have much luck; so we headed down near the dam and had quite a bit of success. 6 Brook Trout in total, but only 2 were by me. |

We were on the water before sun up, mostly full moon still looming over the lake and the fish were rising left and right.
I had hoped we would have had a more productive day but it was still a blast and I have now come to put Whittemore Lake on my hot list. |

Pretty much my last notable trip of 2012.
A last late summer bid at Saltmarsh Pond. As I expected, the water hadn't cooled off at all and the fishing was challenging at best.
It was nice to be out there as summer is about to give way to autumn, but the fish population in this small, yet well managed, trout pond had taken a beating. |

A late arrival, but I just didn't have the time to post.
This was certainly one of our best outings of the year, even with the sunburn...
Rainbow Trout and the occasional Brookie were hitting steadily all day, regardless of what we sent to the bottom; worms or Powerbait, spinner or regular hook... The amount of trout hooked by 4 people in one day was almost unbelievable!
Our only issue, as catch & release anglers, was the top water being slightly over 80°. After the fight and being hauled up through warm water some of the Rainbows and one Brookie just didn't make it. But, in the end, they did make it to a campfire, accompanied by butter, lemon, garlic and tinfoil.
