An effort to catch some pike and some bass, funny that we did not manage a single pike, and ended up with a striper and some channel cats.

black lake

We spent a week fishing this lake, and despite our best efforts, we only caught yearling pike. Good bass fishing, and i took my largest bass ever here at almost 4 pounds.

This is a very small brook, and the best place to go is the pool under the overpass on route 184.

five lakes groton

This set of ponds is right behind an apartment complex. There are some great bass in here, and i leave them behind because i catch the same fish over again, and a lot of kids kill time fishing here. Watch out for stupid people, there has been some fire activity, report if you see any, the city is talking about fencing the area off, and that would suck...

smith pond
8/1/2011 - 10/1/2011

This pond is very mossy, and i have not been able to run a bait other than a t-riged worm with out having to clean it off every cast. There are some good sized bass in this pond, i have personaly bagged a 2.7lber. I have also caught a frog here on a worm :)

LITTLE PICKERAL POND
10/10/2011 - 2/10/2012

This is a pond that is surrounded by houses on one side and the other has woods along its shores. There are three holes in the woods to allow shore access, but there not great. I have bagged sevral fish from the shore, but its not the best way. This location is so small i recomend a yak or unpowered cannoe. Depth is an issue to deal with, so running shallow baits will keep you from pulliing up garbage all the time. Small spinner baits and chatterbaits work the best.

stony brook

Stony brook drains into the thames river. We found it on the gps and thought we would check it out. There are tons of brambles which would be a royal pain to fish any other time other than winter. The only take was two small picks so i will not be heading back
