Quincy, Dorchester, South Boston Fishing Report

The Past Two Months... (saltwater)

Squids have been biting by Nut Island in Quincy. Caught hundreds upon hundreds for bait. Also caught two 36" keepers there a few weeks back. Heard a dude caught a 45" hog there, a couple weeks before I hit my two.

JFK/UMASS has been hot with schoolie and keeper action, biggest one being about 40", and fat! The key really is fresh, fresh, FRESH bait. Anybody using frozen bait store garbage is not likely to hook up, though I did run out one night and caught one on frozen squid from a baitshop that runs 24 hrs/day. Shoot me a message if you want to know where the shop is.

Black Falcon Pier has also been pretty good to me. Have caught a bunch of schoolies and keepers there as well. It seems to be best at low tide, when the tide starts coming up...

Have also managed to catch a bunch of black sea bass... Haven't seen those in a while...

Tight lines everyone!

Comments

  • Portsmouth and Kittery Point is full of squid right now. Drop a diamond jig or a sabiki rig.

  • Jigs. Squids were going wild in Quincy. Still some there but not like it was a few weeks ago. I heard of a spot in Gloucester that has been teeming with them lately.

  • Sounds like a great time! What are you using to catch the squid? Nets? Jigs?
