South Shore Fishing Report

Well mark it down 3-24 and finally got on the water for 2012. Met my good friend at the pond and began fishing around 7:30am. We decided to paddle over to an island area and began our fishing. I got bit early on a minus1. The plan was to do a drift with shallow cranks and jerk baits towards the back of the pond. Then concentrating on the bush/brush with jigs and then the area around the feeder creek. Well we picked up a few bass and pickles along the way. When we got to the jig area to my surprise I was getting bit tossing my minus right up on to the cover. Frankly it was out doing the jig. So we stuck with it. The bite died a bit and the jig began to turn on both drag/hopping and swimming it. I tried swimming the jig as it seemed more forgiving in the brush than all those trebles. It may have been confidence or just they liked the true bait fish look of the lure so it was back to the minus for more fish.

All and all another great trip with a good friend on a quiet no motors allowed SS pond. The highlight of the trip was 4.5lbs bass caught on a jig by my pal while he was on speaker phone with friend of his lol. Good times lots of fish with my best being around 3lbs.

  • No not Whitmans if it was/is a common pond I always list the name. If it is a shown by a friend or hard to get into spot got to keep some things under wraps.

  • Was this at Whitman's?

  • Accidentally left less than 5 stars and this was a 5-star trip all the way! Sorry boys!
