Redeeming My Faith In The Sud

After getting pretty much skunked last week at the Sud, I decided to give it another try. About an hour into the morning, I was getting the feeling of getting skunked again. I was using my "go-to" baits - Black w/ blue falke senkos. Since I was not getting anything, not even a nibble, I switched it up to a different color, Baby-bass senkos. On the first cast, I let it sink and when I gave it the intial tug, BOOM, the line took off. A nice 4+ lber.

The next 3 casts after that all got nice hits. Ended up pulling 11 lmb total. 4+lber, a couple of 2lbers and the rest were small, but hey it was productive.

Since the water level has come back up and the shoreline is pretty much non-existant, I think I will be moving to some new places.

  • Funny you say that the last 3 bass I pulled out of there one a nice 3lber I caught off green with black flake I figured they were getting tired of the black the fish haven't gone anywhere they just wanted something different I can't believe anyone takes fish out of there posted all over not to eat fish and disregard for rules pisses me off except the one time when I walked in the water but I felt guilty maybe a little less after a 4lber lit up my line ha ha but I got out after that didn't feel right rules are there for a reason even if I don't know why.

  • I've always had good luck with the baby bass senkos. It just amazes me that switching colors made that much of a difference. The black w/ blue flake not even a kiva nibble & then 1st cast with the baby bass saw that the action of 11 fish.

  • That baby bass color is one of my favorites.

  • Yes, only certain parts are allowed. Basically the northern part near the dam is off limits. In a perfect world people would follow the rules, but I am sure there are plenty of people that disregard this and fish it anyway.

It's the same with taking fish and not releasing them. I actually witnessed two guys taking largemouth's they caught yesterday that were not remotely big enough. This kind of disregard for the rules really pisses me off!

  • So only certain sections of the Sud are fishable? Only the northern section no? Do people actually abide by the "no fishing" in certain parts of the reservoir?
