Ossippe Lake 6/10

Yea I know it's in N.H., but I did spend 2 weeks there so... Caught lots of bass and pickeral. Boated around 120 bass both Sm and Lm. Found the Spawn to be over and the fishing started out slow on arrival but picked up as the vacation went on. Interesting fact at this time there was that 90% of the bass caught were all relating to where ever sparse weeds could be found (there are'nt many). Smaller fish on the inside, bigger fish on the outside. Best spots were outside weed edges 10-12 ft deep with drops to 20-30 close by. Docks produced damn few fish as did rafts and moorings. Weeds in the channel current had the most numbers, and after a few days I concentrated only on these areas. Spinnerbaits, carolina rigging, crankbaits, jigs, and drop shotting did not produce. King Senko is the bait that worked. The Bite was so light that on perfectly calm days, you'ld watch the line and never see it twitch, but on pick up to retreive you'ld have one. So i started popping my line every so often, on the drop and off the bottom, resulting in 3 times the number of hook ups. The pickeral would usually slam the baits when you were reeling in and were a lot of fun as they were in the 1 1/2 - 2 1/2, and fought like tigers. Lots of 2-3 lb Lms, with a 4 1/4 and one that was just under 5. Big smallie went 3 1/4 and they ranged 5 inches to an average of1 1/4 lbs. Drop shotting was used a few times when fish were detected in 13 - 20 ft in schools away from weeds. They were usually whitefish 10- 15 inches long. Last day went out for 2 hrs and caught 30 fish before taking the boat out. Good Fishing, always caught something whenever I went out and a great place to vacation.
