More Bass On The Fly At Buckmaster

Watch the video here http://youtu.be/X-aEZOqdL0w

After a great fly outing here on Wednesday, I hit up Buckmaster again early Friday morning eager to give my new Orvis Clearwater 906 it's first workout and sliming. Again fishing a size 6 green popper over submerged weed beds, I was into the fish quickly. Throughout the morning the bite wasn't as active as two days earlier but I still managed to entice a number of fish to the surface. Fish size continues to be an issue here with many fish below the legal limit of 12". The top water action is fun but I'm hankerin' to feel the tug something bigger on the end of my line and test the limits of the 6 wt. The only bad news from this trip is that I'm beginning to develop a case of "fisherman's elbow"aka tennis elbow and will have to rest it for a while. I may have to practice my left handed casting so I don't lose too many fishing days.

  • That little "beach" area is a great place to cast from. You can wade out reasonably far. I usually hit it early in the morning on weekdays.

  • Hey Bloo - got into a bass with the woolly bugger right off the (crowded) beach at Buckmaster Saturday afternoon. Thing dived under a clump of submerged weeds - took me forever to get him out...poor thing was hooked in the corner of the eye...swam away fine though.
