Lake Boon- Home Sweet Home

So I recently moved out of the Maspy "Frat" House- Napa helped me close down shop there over the weekend. I was sad to put that place behind me but at the same time extremely excited as Jen and I bought a house across the street from Lake Boon in Hudson. We have a nice view and lake access which is a major plus. I've had the itch to get out since the second we moved into the house and today I had nothing on the agenda so I set out for my first trip on the ice at Boon. The night before I looked on the internet and found an area that appeared intriguing on the map and it was close to my house. It was a nice little cove with 10 feet of water and some cover below the surface. The conditions were tough with the snow on the ice and getting all my gear out there as I was solo angling. All the work was well worth it as I literally couldn'y keep up with all the flags. It took me a couple hours to get all 5 traps set up due to the action I was having. From 9:00am to 10:30am I managed to pull in 6 bass and missed plenty of other flags. Soon after I set the last trap in the ice it went up and that's when the GATOR showed it's face. As I was pulling it in I thought to myself this must be a big bass........then I saw the jaws emerge and realized it was the biggest Pikeral of my career. The beast measured 26 inches and weighed 4 pounds and 2 ounces, just 6 ounces shy of a PIN.

I continued to fish the same area and caught 5 more bass and another Slob of a pickeral that weighed 3 pounds. I missed one good bass right at the hole and as I was packing up shop almost got spooled at another hole, again couldn't land the fish but at that point I didn't mind much. I'm glad to see the new terrain has the potential for some awesome fish and look forward to catching some beasts here this year. I believe this is the Landlords home territory.....or maybe I should say it was hahaha- watch out for the Arrogance!!!
