Made it back up to the Granite State this weekend to Live Free. Friday night looked like rain, so we went to a brewery in Keene for dinner and beers, starting things out right. Didn't end up raining, so got back to the house and starting tossing a buzzbait off the dock. Had one on the first cast that spit it, then made up for it with 3 others shortly after, the biggest being 2 lbs 15 oz. Definitely starting things out right...
Next day, went for a hike, came back, swam, caught a few average sized bass, another good one at night.
Sunday, went to another pond about a half hour away, caught my first bass at 7:30 by a stump, 2 lbs. 7 oz. paddled down further and cast at a downed tree in the middle of a bay and a second later felt that familiar womp womp! I set the hook and I knew it was a good one, I was in my kayak, so that starting going all over the place, and the bass ended up diving into the branches of the tree. When I finally got the boat to a position where I could land the fish, I thought I had lost him, as the fish wrapped himself around the branches. I grabbed the line and felt him tug, so I knew it was ok, I saw the pig and reached down grabbed him. When I pulled it up, the hook was not attached and I was very relived to have him in the boat!! Ended up being my personal best so far...4 pounds 1 oz. Felt good to finally have a good bass in the boat, seems I've been stuck at 2 1/2 pounders for the whole season.
Went back to the lake we were staying on, and caught a decent smallie in the middle of the day, then packed up and went home. Great Weekend!
The ranking score is used to determine how "popular" a trip or location is. It is calculated based off of a weighted average of the number of reviews and the user ratings. For example, a trip with 2 reviews and an average rating of 5 will have a lower "ranking score" than one with 10 reviews and an average rating of 4. This is because even though the first trip has a better average rating, it has not been reviewed as much as the second trip, so it is not as "popular". In the future we may modify the ranking score to take in additional factors, such as the number of views, comments, and photos.
