First Time To Reservoir

Where: "Upper" Artichoke Reservoir
Time: Early morning
Conditions: Light rain

As usual these days, I use Google maps to chart a new adventure with the kids. I read somewhere that the state record for large mouth bass came out of here, and came in over 9lbs. I now think I know why (later on that).

Once again we used everything in the tackle box arsenal (i.e. Rooster Tails, Spinner bait, etc). We caught just about everything: tons of Crappie, couple Perch, a few small bass (under 2lb) and we lost count of the pickerel. The pickerel were fairly large and abundant. The longest we went with was maybe 15 minutes of nothing, and between us, we missed maybe 7 or 8, unable to hook/land.

Truly a fantastic morning, rain didn't matter as we prepared accordingly. The end of the morning was capped off with one of those: "You wouldn't believe it" scenarios...

I was using a single spinner bait, dark all around, as I was cranking, I thought my line go hung up...but it moved! I yelled to my son to have a look-see. As I was reeling, a truly monstrous bass jumped clear out, only to shake loose. 10 yards away...I will definitely be going back soon.

All in all, a fantastic fishing day, even without landing "the big one", but seeing it thrash about put a smile on the kids faces.

*Will add a couple pics later
