First Time For The Season

Went out to Houghtons with the little one just to get some lines wet and see if we could come up with anything. Walked down the beach to the point started with a senko no luck so I thought i would try my new scatter rap (bluegill) no luck to start but just about 710 as we were about to leave something smashed the rap. Get it to the beach and nice 14" rainbow. Not a bad way to start the season and the new scatter rap

  • Nice fish. I can see why there is confusion. The colors are muted so some tell tales aren't clear. It does more resemble a brown due to the spot pattern. Were there a lot of spots on the tail or just a few? Lots = rainbow.

  • Rainbow, brown or other, it's still a nice fish!

  • Thought the same thing it was a brown but the fish and game guy came over explained to me how to tell the difference. Im still learning just got into fishing last year so any advice toss it out there.

  • Not a brown, spots are wrong, belly color isn't right for a brown..whole color of the fish to be fair. Browns are far greener/gold, with slightly different style spots.

Smaller spots with the hints of pink/bright blue, it is a rainbow..colors and pink band prolly just faded due to being dead and or on the ground..also many stockies are not as bright. Plus the over all picture is blue lol...

  • Nice spots on the BROWN..

  • are you sure thats a rainbow? it looks an awful lot like a brown to me.
