Bite was on...before the kayaks got out
There was a kayak tournament on Massasecum this morning - I think getting out on the water before they launched was a good thing - hot bite from the start then we had to work for them - 6 large mouth and a surprise smallie.

Shore fishing 4" Yum Dinger in crystal clear water. A guy in a $3000 kayak watched me land three fish, then he paddled away. Ha!

Caught on ol faithful jointed black and silver rapala at dusk. Caught another smaller bass and crappie. My first fish from a kayak and this fish pulled me good.

4lber on labor day weekend
4lber on labor day weekend
This fella spit the hook as i brought him in the kayak but landed between my legs then flopped his way on top of the yak. One more flop and it would have escaped but i managed to grab it at the last second. Caught off of a large rock with a black and blue jig with a black and blue pit boss. Also my first selfie stick fish so forgive the quality lol.

Hiding on the island
I took this right as the wind and rain started to get heavy...still sunny in the background though. Also this is where I pulled my kayak completely out of the water, and tucked it into the bank in front of the ridge

Upside down
Upside down
So during the heaviest of the winds I couldnt really look around, or see anything, or hear anything, but when it all died down, here was my boat, thrown up a 12 foot bank onto a ridge, and along the way the paddle bent, a rod holder containing a rod was ripped right off the kayak, and my paddle strap was snapped...however not a rod broke!

I decided to go out on the lake this morning and I'm glad I did even though it was breezy. It started out slow with a few one pound bass caught right up against the shoreline. I worked several areas that normally produce results and then headed for to spatter docks. I worked one side with no luck and decided to move down the line. I stayed about 30 feet out from the spatter docks and was casting into the very edge. The first cast brought a strike. I casted a few more times in the same area and then B A N G!!! hooked one. I knew it had some size to it so I slowly tired it out. When I got him next to the kayak I pulled him onboard. Made my day :-) He measured in at 20.5 inches.

This compound is 5 minutes from my house. Hardly ever see fishermen, just an occasional yak. Most folks come here to run or walk with their dogs.

Today's adventure
Today's adventure
Man!!! It just keeps getting better and better. Got up early this morning and was on the lake by 6:30am. Within minutes I was catching small bass. I paddled up lake to where I caught the two from yesterday and dropped my chain anchor. I fished the cover on the bank for about 30 minutes and then started near the edge of the lily pads. First cast and B A N G !!! I hooked the one in the pictures. What a fighter this was. When it finally ran out of steam I got it on board the yak and measured it...... 23 and a quarter inches. Not having a scale I consulted my size/weight charts and this bass weighed almost 7 and three quarter pounds. I took the picture of the one on the deck of my yak and another fisherman near me took the one looking back at the yak.

Good day!
Had a great day! 14 bass total with these two, by far, being the best of the catch. The one I'm holding was 22" and the one laying on the deck of my kayak was 21.5"
