Baby brook trout
Baby brook trout
This was caught in Jones Gap State Park. Apparently the waters in the are home to a good population of wild rainbows. Brook trout can only get into this area of the river through a handful of small tributaries. This little guy was super pretty and surprisingly lively on my 4wt ;) thanks for lookin!!

Robin caught in monofilament line at Sudbury Reservoir
Robin caught in monofilament line at Sudbury Reservoir
A sad reminder of the hazards discarded fishing line present for wildlife. I try to pick up what I find and bring it home for the trash whenever I can. I was able to cut the poor bird free but he was injured and only flew a few feet away before landing on the ground again. I suspect he won't survive long.

A bonus walleye
A bonus walleye
Through all these wild encounters with the bedding bass, a very unusual species turns up on the end of my line. Walleyes are not very prominent in this part of the country. Not sure fish and game knew they were in here either. Loved catching them in Michigan on 4 lb test with big fat crawlers. This one only 18 in looks bigger still tryin to get this selfie thing down!

Why you don't lip lock a Pickeral
Why you don't lip lock a Pickeral
So, I'm quite aware of the teeth that pickeral have but decided tonight to push arrogance to the next level. I caught a few nice picks today but the last one was a mere 12 inches. I decided to test out the lip lock technique on this cute little fish and shortly after the lock took place the think decided to shake wildly, resulting in a bloody Angler! I'm seriously still bleeding.....2 hours after the encounter- lesson learned!

Here's a beautiful view of Beaver Pond along Rt. 112 in NH. The pond is fed by the Wild Ammonoosuc River and drained by The Lost River.
