Where are the smallies?
Where are the smallies?
Both of these smaller bass came from this rocky, shallow area to the left. I always thought there would be smallmouth here, but the largemouth are hogging all the action so far.

The jelly worms make a triumphant return!
The jelly worms make a triumphant return!
There is a floating dock at the end of the swimming area. If nobody is swimming that day, I throw a lyre over there because some nice two pounders like to hang out near it.

This was the first fish of the weekend, a one pound 14 incher. I caught it while fishing from shore. This one was caught with a green worm with a weedless stinger rig.

First From the Canoe.
First From the Canoe.
This was the first fish I caught from the canoe. 14 inches and a 1.5 pounds if I remeber right. I somewhat like the fat, rounded shape of him. He almost resembles a monster sunfish.

Second From the Canoe
Second From the Canoe
This was the second fish caught from the canoe. 16 inches and 2 pounds, which ties for the biggest of the trip. This was the first fish caught on the blue lizzard instead of the power worms.

Last fish and others.
Last fish and others.
This was the last fish of the trip. 14 inches and about a pound. It was the only fish I caught the last day. He appeared to have someone elses lure in his digestive system somewhere (which might account for his rather low weight.) There was nothing I could do since any attempt to recover it would have killed the fish. I let him go and hoped for the best. There was another bass I caught the day before as well, but he shook off the hook as I was bringing him over the side of the canoe, so there are no pictures.

A New Honey Hole
A New Honey Hole
The beach right near here is an area I used to swim from as a kid. I have fished this area before, but always lost my lures to rock snags, as there are quite a few here. With my parent's old canoe and a better understanding of working lures however, i made out pretty well this time. The fish shown here was the largest of the whole weekend, a nice 2 pounder.

Decent Bass
Decent Bass
One of the open areas along the shoreline. There are no weeds in these areas during the spring, so it's a good time to try working through the shallows when the water gets warmer.

Almost a record.
Almost a record.
This was the larger of the two bass I caught, mesuring out at 17 inches, and almost beating my personal largemouth record of 18 inches. This one was caught at about 5 feet from shore.

In the middle of the day, the Uncle and I went down tho the brook that feeds into the lake in hope of catching some Brook Trout. Instead all we caught were some pumpkinseeds.

At one point a freshwater mussel came up hanging on to a slipshot weight. Though not a fish, I did catch it adn thought it was too amusing not to include a picture!

I included this picture to show the average size of the perch I was pulling up. There were two however that bucked the trend.
