Baby Pickerel
Baby Pickerel
Dad also pulled in a few of these small Pickerel through the day. Little buggers sure have the attitude, they just need the size!

Pickerel Party!
Pickerel Party!
We stuck mostly to this one area with intermittent lily pads not too far off the northern shore. Schools of Perch and Shiners kept running by, turning into surface feeding frenzies of Pickerel and Bass!

Okay Fish
Okay Fish
This was the second of those three fish. He was a bit smaller than the rest, 15 inches and just over a pound. The last of the three fish on the first day was my 18 inch new sort of record mentioned earlier.

Next Day Fish
Next Day Fish
From there on out I caught one fish a day. This was the fish from the second day, also caught on those damn power worms (note to self, buy 8000 of those). Another pound-and-a-halfer. This time I had my own camera, which is why the picture is slightly better.

Smallest Fish
Smallest Fish
This was the only fish from the third day, and was the smallest of the bunch, about 13 inches and one pound. Considering the bulldogging fights the others had put up, I wasn’t sure if this was a bass or big sunfish until I pulled him in.

New Record and Many More!
New Record and Many More!
We fished up and down the concrete embankment of the Sawyer Lake damn over the course of several days. Dad got a few bites, but I was the one pulling in all the fish. On the first day some other guys showed up for about half an hour, and one of them got a nice two pounder. It was actually quite windy for the first few days, which may have actually helped by pushing all the baitfish schools down to this end of the lake.

First Largemouth of the Season!
First Largemouth of the Season!
I had a bit more casting room this time as there are no lily pads this time of year. Still, I stuck to that one familiar spot. I ended up giving the fish to some Asian dude I met down there. I'm pretty sure he's gonna eat. Hey, it's his liver!

First Kayak Fish!
First Kayak Fish!
This one was caught a bit farther into the lake then I would be able to access standing from shore. If memory serves correctly he was hanging out closer to the bottom of the lake.

One Ugly Mother
One Ugly Mother
This is one of the mates holding the larger of the two Wolffish I caught. Handling these monsters can be tricky these days as that menacing set of teeth is more than capable of liberating you from several of your fingers. The old method (for a keeper) was to bring it up on deck and promptly beat the s%@t out it with a club or bat. Now however, they must all be released alive due to their endagered status, so thee hook needs to carefully removed with a set of pliers, while keping your hands and feet clear of it's mouth.

Our Biggest Keeper
Our Biggest Keeper
This is the biggest fish we caught and were allowed to keep. My dad caught this nice pollock on one of the last stops. Pollock can be tougher fighters, especially when they attain larger sizes.

Haddock attack!
Haddock attack!
This fish was caught on one of the last stops. Getting the bait down to the bottom was tricky here due to the strong tide. Everybody's lines were drifting and tangles were common. Still, if you could manage to get the bait down there were plenty of fish to catch.

Wollfish!
Wollfish!
Both of these wollfish were caught at the same stop. I was not the only one pulling them up, as another angler pulled up a decent size one right behind me. It's such a shame we can't keep them these days, as they make great eating and good sport. This is the smaller of the two that I caught.

Fist Fish
Fist Fish
This is the first, and smallest of all the fish we caught (and were allowed to keep.) A small cusk. Cusk are good, because there is no length limit on them and pulling one up always means food for the table, and they taste great.

Cusk Catches
Cusk Catches
The Cusk were actually caught at many different stops, but for the sake of convenience, all of them are listed here. These Cusk are actually among some of the biggest I have caught, providing a good amount of table fare. It is alos my opinion that cusk fight somewhat harder than Cod or Haddock, though not nearly as hard as Pollock and not even in the same league as Wolffish.

This is a better picture of that pickerel. The first picture was for size comparison, but this picture is much clearer.

How could it be a trash fish? It's a mini pike!
How could it be a trash fish? It's a mini pike!
There are two openings to the water next to the small building, one is almost completely closed off by lily pads but the other still has some clear spots. I was pulling my lure along the edges of the weed bed and the pickerel struck when it was close to shore.

Finally!
Finally!
I stuck around the same area I have been at the past couple of weeks. The water is a little bit lower than normal. I have suspected for quite a while that there was Smallmouth here, but have not been able to prove it until now.

Beat Up Bass
This Bass was caught a full cast directlyaway from shore. He looks like he got into a fight with another fish or almost became lunch for a bird (I have spotted a bald eagle in this area.)
