Day One
I took pictures of every fish (in case anyone doesn't believe me anymore ;). Not all pictures will have description this time though, because who wants to read all that junk?

Evening Smallmouth
Evening Smallmouth
This was the second of the two Smallmouth, caught later that evening. During that outing, I managed to hook into two others, but was only able to boat this one. 15 inches and about 2 lbs.

Kayak Bass
Kayak Bass
All fish were caught near my usual morning shore spot. When Iím stuck on shore, all the fish seem just a hair out of reach. Not so with the Kayak!

Baptism of Firey Fish!
Baptism of Firey Fish!
Well, here is my new fishing rods first fish. You could say it was something of a baptism of fire, because this is one of the biggest fish I have ever caught at sawyer lake. I'm guessing this fish to be around 18 inches and 3 pounds, but I can't be sure. Maybe if anyone else has this brand of tackle box they can use it for size comparison.

First Bass of 2014!
First Bass of 2014!
The fish pictured here is the smaller of the two, but not by much. Iím guessing him at around 17 inches and about 2 ĺ pounds. I hooked him closer to the dam then the other one.

Pickerel 2
Pickerel 2
Here is the other pickerel. This is the one that came in on the tip-up that wouldn't deploy. When I looked through the ice, I could see the reel spinning!

Pickerel 1
Pickerel 1
I was trying to aim for the border area between the shallow area and a drop-off. I spread the tip-ups out in order to increase my chances of finding it.

Big Pickerel
Big Pickerel
This is the big pickerel that the kid caught on a tip-up. Not a moment after he put it down, a nice fish took the bait.

Bigger Pickerel
Bigger Pickerel
The picture here doesn't do it justice (he is holding the fish away from the camera, the opposite of how most pictures of fish are taken.) This was truly one of the most monstrous Pickerel I have ever seen, and I would guess his weight to be at least 2.5 pounds (including all those fish he ate!)

My Pickerel
My Pickerel
We were fishing primarily in the shallow end of the lake. This area is only about three feet deep at maximum. With a foot and a half being frozen solid, we only had the remaining foot and a half to work with. The pickerel didn't seem to care however.

I believe this was the first fish I caught on the second night and the third fish overall. This one was also in the 2 pound class.

Buddy's Bass
Buddy's Bass
This was the bass my buddy caught on that light spinning rod of his. The fish was about 1 1/2 pounds, and sure gave that tackle quite workout!

They're getting bigger!
They're getting bigger!
Though I did make an expedition to my favorite morning spot on the other side of the lake, this time all the action was at the Sawyer lake damn in the evening. Bites were occurring all over the embankment, from right next to the damn to the sandy beach.

This was the smaller of the two fish I caught that day. He was 14 in long and probably about 1-1.5 lbs. Also caught on the power worm.

Complimentary Bass
Complimentary Bass
This Bass was caught near the area where we were catching most of the Pickerel. The weeds were spread out enough so that throwing a lure was possible.

Dad's Bass
Dad's Bass
This is the bass that Dad caught, about a pound and a half. Dad's lure of choice this time around was a No. 2 Wobbler we picked up for trout fishing. It's small, rearward hooks lent itself well to the weedy, Pickerel waters of Shellcamp, pulling in this Bass and a few Pickerel.

Dad's Pickerel
Dad's Pickerel
This is one of the Pickerel dad caught, about pound and a third or so. The wobbler he was using could sure hook the Pickerel, but its small hooks would also lose a few.
