Fall At Whitmans

Well hit Whitmans pond twice in three weeks back in Oct. I work at 11am on Sundays so my bud and I were on the water by 7am.

First trip my buds battery dies before we leave the cove. Only one paddle and we are in a pond prowler. Oh well lets make it work. Wind helped us a bit then the rains came. Stupid weather man. Of course on a small vessel I decided to leave my rain gear in the car. Oh well we start getting hits and manage a few pickles and perch or two.

Finally start getting some bass on the minus. It is raining real good now but we have some action. I lose two nice ones on the jump off the minus. We camp out on a point off the bigger island in the pond. I grab a pickle and bass then I hear whoooosh. About 10min before I gave my bud a minus and it paid off. He had a big one on. She fought him hard and when all aid and done he had nice 4.2 on the digi. Long paddle in but though soaked to the skivies it was worth it.

Two weeks later same pond battery issue addressed, thank goodness as the wind was tough shortly after 9am. Much tougher day though. We finally figured out working smaller spinnerbaits through the spares pads was the deal. What do they say never leave fish to find them. Well with a time frame to get to work we did to be closer to the ramp. Our normal Fall hot spot was a bust. May have been picked clean by a guy that was on it before we got there but non the less a big 0 there. Wanted to work the pads in the cove on the way in but wind was just too brutal. We had my buds motor pinned and our now two paddles in full force just to get in.

Good times. Hope to squeeze in one or two more trips though his schedule just changed which equals solos I guess for me.
