Day Pass

Got day pass for Friday so took it and ran with it. This only being my second time on my canoe of the season I was happy to not be on a time restriction trip.

Got on the water at 930am had nice 2.5 on topwater torpedo after only 15 casts! Switched to a floating jerkbait on a drift towards the back of the pond. Managed 1 small bass on it. Then the action started. Began tossing the frog at fishy looking stuff. After afew misses. I noticed only hits came from red lilies with brush behind it. Slowed the retrieve and bang pay dirt!

Managed 8 larrys all of which totally choked it in. Biggest was 3.1. Had a giant hit in open water but didnt hook up after the fish doubled back twice to dolphin my frog. No luck on follow up baits.

Wind picked up and the paddling got tough. Switched to double willow and managed 2 small guys. Fished big obvious boulder but the wind forced me to hit it on different angle than usual. WOW nice leaping larry to the tune of 3.6 lbs.

Pond 1 needed with 13 bass top 5 pushing 12lbs.

Lunch then pond 2 but lost my mojo to paddle into the stiff wind at pond 2 so called an audible and drove to puddle in Hingham to try my new Bigfoot trolling motor pedal I installed. Well mixed views on the pedal see its pros and cons. In the end glad I wired it the way I did as I am taking it out and sticking with the hand control.

Was very lucky to not get wet or hurt as this pond was muddy water causing me to miss a sunken something way out in the middle and my motor drilled full bore into it. I stayed in the boat and had presence to save my tmotor as it snapped and cracked my transom. I held the motor by hand until I could kill the power. Glad I was not standing or I would at the very least have gotten wet.

Collected my self jerry rigged something and finished fishing this mud hole but only managed 1 expensive bass. lol
