Charles River, Cow Island Pond 5/12/12

First time on the Charles fishing though I have kayaked it many times. Found a spot near Home Depot in West Roxbury to launch from only 20 feet from the road, so easy in, easy out. Wind was gusting pretty heavy at times and I had a hard time controlling the yak. The Cow Pond stretch is a big open body of water with a slow current, so slow in fact that the wind was actually blowing me upstream all day long. Was throwing soft plastics and crank baits, Had strikes on everything but the Charles, she don't give up her fish too easy. Lost four bass that went airborne. Only one small bass made it to the boat, one decent pick, and a bunch of fat yellow perch. It was enough action to make me try up stream a little further.
