I caught about 5 or 6 bullheads--about a half-pound to a pound--nothing special. I went out last week for white catfish and bullheads, and there were a staggering amount of 2 to nearly 5 pound eels. They kept me catfishing pretty hard the last week...
The eels hit hard, heavy, and quick. I lost more than a few rigs with them too. I normally wouldn't fish for catfish heavily this time of year, but I thought I missed some monster catfish--nadda. Just a bunch of big eels.
I wouldn't recommend the eels (unless you're starving or want to liveline an enormous one). I'll save the catfish fishing for June/July... Now you know where to catch 2-5 pound eels in mid May. I'm sure the white catfish will have to start biting soon, but I'm not rushing back out to try.
