Beating The Water With A Stick
Trotted back down to my super secret trout honey hole today, this time carrying my 30 year old Fenwick fiberglas 6wt. Just like yesterday, trout were rising and jumping all around me. Tied on a size 4 black wooly bugger and on my 2nd cast had a strike. Sadly, I would get only one other strike over the next two hours. Yesterday I used a much lighter leader and a smaller, olive wooly bugger and was able to get 5 strikes and land a good fish in an hour and a half.
So after two hours I packed up and moved to another pond where I managed to catch one small bass on a chartreuse and white clouser. Not much catching today but lots of practice with the fly rod.
