Dead calm summer afternoons are perfect times to hit up the local pond for some top water action. Here I'm using my 6 wt Fenwick World Class fly rod and a chartreuse size 6 popper to do my dirty work. The action started almost immediately and didn't let up. I finally quit because I was tired and it was getting dark. The water here is stained but still has decent clarity so I fished areas over emergent weed beds in four to eight feet of water. I boated 11 bass and missed about half as many more hookups.
