As The Weather Turns

Today I was supposed to fish a new pond with Dunt when I got out of work. He has Thursdays off so with all the sun and warmth his wife called in sick to work so they could grill and drink beers. So Dunt bailed out on me. I decided to hit my honey hole. When I got there it was 69 degrees out, mostly sunny and windy as hell. About a half an hour after I launch the temps start falling. It dropped about 10 degrees in an hour. I was throwing the square billed crank, a double bladed buzz bait, a jig and a texas rigged craw.
I will spend a lot of time working the shoreline with the buzz bait and the crank bait when it's windy. I started off in the shallow end of the pond but after an hour had no bites so I headed down to the other end where there is deeper water. I get over there and it starts raining. Since there was no rain in the forecast, my coat was in the car. I was wearing my bibs though.
I decided that the buzz bait was going to be the way to go. Water temp was 67. After a few casts I get a swipe from a dink. I briefly thought to throw the craw at him but decided against it. Good thing I did. Next cast I caught a pig. Usually when people think buzz baits they think your just cranking like crazy. The double blader can be fished really slow. I was cranking as slow as I could and still keep the thing on top. It;s making almost a plopping sound. This fish just rolled on it. I saw the whole thing and can't believe I was able to wait until I felt the fish. I always use trailer hooks on my buzz baits and this is why. Got him with the stinger. After a nice fight on my medium action rod I netted him and threw him in the live well so I could get my camera out. I was also hoping that I could catch another one and get a nice double pig pic. I had three more swipes at the buzzer but no hook ups. Overall I'd say it was a good day.

Thanks Dunt its a 5 pounder
