Lake Boon - Hudson, MA Fishing Report

4/26/15 - 3rd Annual Spring Boone Tourney/BBQ

Here we are again for our, now annual, season kick-off/BBQ. Like I've said before, the BBQ feast after is really what draws the attendance. And also because the host Ronnie lives on the lake it's an easy choice. Certainly not for the fishing.

Weather predicted for close to 60 degrees, with 5-10mph winds was more like low 50's with a raw 5-15mph winds. Seems as the cold front really shut down most of the bigger fish. Sun would make an appearance from time to time but overall it was an overcast day. Water temp were about 53-54 to start and close to 60 by the end of the tournament. Outside of catching 11" fish all day, the bite was miserable. I had one 1lb keeper, along with 10 shorts. Thankfully Chuck carried the team, and had the rest of our limit with a 3.08, a 2lber, a 1lb 1oz, and a 1lber to go along with 15 more shorts. Jigs, jigs, and more jigs.

2nd. Bite Me - 4 Fish @ 7.04lbs - Touney Lunker @ 3.70lbs
3rd. Beaver Fever - 5 Fish @ 6.84lbs - Big Fish @ 2.34lbs
4th. Dirty Bassassins - 1 Fish @ 1.20lbs
5th. Bass Hunter/MoreFish - 1 Fish @ .90lbs

Now the good part! Burgers, Dogs, Sausages, Steak Tips, Potato Salad, Meatballs, etc! Holy moly I went into a food coma for a little while. Lots of laughs were had, and some serious weight gain was in effect. Good to see everyone, and thanks again to our host Ronnie, and Uncle Ray for manning the grill! Till next time boys!
