Saturday Afternoon Adventure

JJ and I got the gear and drove to Oak Pond in winslow twp. and fished for about 10 minutes. The only spot left to fish from was horrible! Only about 1/2 foot deep and clear -we could see about 35-40 feet away and there wasn't any fish insight. We drove 20 minutes on some back roads and ended up on rt.206, so we went 4 miles to Atsion Lake - which was gated and closed. Across the street is the Mullica River canoe launch. Extremely small area to fish due to trees. We fished there for 20 minutes. No luck at all, the catfish that were there over the summer had probably swam down to Batsto Lake. We started driving home and got on Rt.30/white horse pike, we got into Atco and saw a big lake on left,so we turned in, got a parking spot, and went fishing. We walked up to the shore and immediately saw 5-6 swirls from fish swimming away. We cast out a few times and started getting hits, and hooking some nice chain pickerel. Got them on a worm hooked wacky style, a topwater lure ( jitterbug ) and some spinner baits. Turned out that the lake we never been to before, made the entire adventure worthwhile! 6 Pickerel landed, about 10-12 hooked, only got 6 on the shore! We are trying to find out what the name of this lake is, i've got alot of lists of all the places to fish in NJ, by the counties and this thing isn't listed. I will add the name when i find out what it is. As for me....going back tomorrow to fish the otherside of this lake, it might be the last warm sunday until spring and it's only 20 minutes from my front door. 43 miles round trip today. SUNDAY - went back to ATCO LAKE caught nothing. Same bait as yesterday -only had 1 hit on a spinnerbait - i could see the ripples and swirls of the fish and where they were, but they weren't biting.
